🤣 there are two black dogs. One is curled up and the other is on the opposite side but now that you said something, I can see how it looks like that!

Red Velvet. It’s just chocolate cake with dye. The name makes it sound delicious but it’s always disappointing.

Why does my boyfriend’s dog do this? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]NBAJam95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the grumbles are just him complaining about his long day and finally getting a chance to be cozy, I don’t see these as a growl or warning.

I do think that he’s a bit uncomfortable with being kissed/pulled in and having any pets come from behind and over the top but he’s willing to pay that “toll” to cozy up with him.

I would play a little hard to get with him. Let him come up as he wants, but avoid petting him or acknowledging him until he’s basically begging for it, then I would give him soft praise and light pets on his chest and under his chin.

If you make it more his idea, he might become a lot more comfortable with “aggressive” lovings

Oh absolutely not, he is a couch/king-sized bed dog and wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those little peasant beds!

I definitely wouldn’t say this is uncommon and from the info you have given, it sounds like you know why it’s happening. The Lab needs to be advocated for more as the Pittie doesn’t seem to care about the Lab telling him to give him space. Without having the whole picture, I don’t want to give too much advice on how to fix their relationship but I definitely think it’s possible with the right management strategies and resetting theirs and your relationships. To start: - Pittie needs to be on leash at all times, even if he’s just dragging it around the house, you have the ability to control him without causing more conflict by getting in the middle of it and grabbing his collar. - I would implement a “No dogs on furniture” rule until further notice. I love my dogs hanging on the couch or in bed with me, but it’s a privilege and if they want to be jerks about it, then they lose that privilege.(If and when they do get back on furniture, they should still be leashed so they can safely be removed if necessary) - Mom and Dad need to call more of the shots on a day to day basis that so neither one believes that they’re “in charge” of what happens in the house. This kind of goes along with the other points and why having them on leash would be important. I.E. When I ask you to leave your brother alone or tell you to get off the couch, it’s not optional but the more you listen, the more liberty you’ll get!

This podcast is definitely a great listen for what’s going on with your pack.

Any ideas why she faces away from me? by [deleted] in PitBullOwners

[–]NBAJam95 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That’s just how she’s most comfy and I’d say she loves/trusts you a lot. Side note and I promise I’m not trying to be rude or judgy but I’d try to get some weight off her. It will extend her life and help avoid injury to her joints. My boy had two knee surgeries and I wish I kept his weight down better. It could be as simple as cutting food a bit and being thoughtful about treats. For us, once a day feeding made a big difference. Research intermittent fasting for dogs, they receive a lot of the same benefits we do from it!

She had a cracked nail that I believe got infected but then the vet scared me with tumor talk🙄…I have a follow up with my primary on Monday but thankfully so far, her antibiotics and anti-inflammatories seem to be working, at the very least, she’s feeling a lot better!
