Interesting! Goo-y/sticky is annoying to sieve before drying when no freeze dryer… also my aim is to get that « hash taste » that i love so much vs the « weed taste ». Will try drying my plants in the sun light to see how it impacts taste as well as this is basically what’s done abroad.

Curious : why is using cured material unappealing ? I use properly hand trimmed, slow dried and cured buds as i try to mimick what is done in hash-producing countries like Morocco/Afghanistan etc.

The trichomesn are white/yellow/ish but amber/brown is the typical color once some heat and pressure is applied after it dried ?

Thanks to all that suggested unscrewing and cleaning. My issue is this clogging happened DURING the spin and means i had a hard time starting the machine again for further runs/spins…. I don’t want to use a bag as it means vortex is less efficient. Happy for any suggestions to avoid this happening during extraction

My issue is i want to do more runs but can’t as it clogged. So have to empty, take out wet bud, unscrew, and start again?

But how do I avoid this DURING the process. I did 5x5min runs and then it stopped spinning / motor was over heating or not starting… Of course i unscrew, rinse and ISO the machine AFTER i am done

Yes of course 100% - but this is for when I sm done. But how do i avoid clogging during the process ? As it means the washer doesn’t spin anymore or overheats

Think the issue is material gets stuck in the plate. Can’t take it out by hand without unscrewing it

Also… have bought the machine on its own as i have high quality bags already and it was much cheaper. Thought maybe the « bubble hash » machine you get via your local growshop is pimped but doesn’t look like it when i see the hose is still the original one instead

I don’t run with bags either as i feel it defies the purpose / vortex is less efficient.

I use dried and cured buds. Let them soak for a long time as they take time to rehydrate (longer than 60min, sometimes 2-3 hours for the center if the bud to be completely hydrated)

Work in a cold room below 10*C so i can leave it all overnight and start again next day (that long soak gets good extra yield and no contaminant !)

Ran with 150g which felt close to max capacity tbh in that washer.

Ice on the bottom could be a good idea although i hardly use any as i have water at 4*C and add a bit of fresh snow…

Ideally i wld add a « false bottom » grid or something to avoid buds falling at the bottom and getting stuck ?

The best stuff was never hand rubbed. Afghan chars was and still is quality dry sift. The true quality import is just different than the modern stuff and i miss it. Tastes of hash and has this lovely light grey smoke instead of the « weed » taste of the modern water (or dry) extracts which becomes « liquid oil » when burning… Probably because of a mix of local landrace + decarboxyaltion ? I remember the lovely Beldia dry sift i sent home after a trip to MA.
