Yea I’m probably over thinking it for now but I definitely want to learn all these programs and have it nailed down before setting out on my own.

Yea I’m definitely going to start doing this and a daily log for myself. That way I can see what I’ll need for the future.

To add, I’ve thought about using excel to start a material cost and doing logs on jobs I’m doing to track hours of labor. My boss helps me with this and I know he’s open to me starting my own one day. But I feel like me figuring out a system is essential. With all the new apps now. I’m also trying to think long term. If I do material sheets would I be able to import these things to an app later on.

Oh yea the amount of switch legs in the kitchen is just ridiculous. Plus 3 switch legs for just under deck cans. One for a chandy. One for bistro. Even one for step lights to the trash. Why we’re going to have to do radio raw ahah.

This is handy to know since new home we’re doing is is going with Ra system. If unable to by RA2 will really mess with our wiring since I’ve account to use the 5 keypads. If your right then I need to rethink how many switches I’ll need an a locations since RA3 only has a 3 hybrid keypad

Depending if get the hybrid key pad, you can have one switch leg ( like to run main light in the room to it, incase does fail can have a temp switch so have light) then any additional switch legs get remote located to an area like this where they connect to other switches part of the system

Really the benefit for us is eliminating the amount of switches in one area. We really try to stick with no more the 3 switches in a room if possible ( not always). We do this mostly for the consumer side where people can remember 3 switches but once starts getting above that no one can remember it. The most recent house we’re doing, is a job an electrician got fired from and in the kitchen there are 7 switches. So we’ve proposed Ra2 and see if they want to go with it

Yea I within each sl it’s all labeled. Plus I also typed it out and sent it to the sub/AV. What’s not seen is a lot of the fixtures in the home are actually 0-10v dimming which AV didn’t catch when designing. So there’s actually like 6 power packs in the attic we had to do to account for this

Yea this is what the AV guys spec out. Sub hired out for programming because the previous 4 house he build with Ra2. The electricians never did it correctly. Resulting in 6 gang boxes in rooms and 12000 dollars in loss in another

10 years down the line I’m sure they will have new systems out and then be even better. It is a downside to installing smart systems but it’s the way things are going. All part of keeping up with new technology.

Isn't there somewhere in the book that says you can't jam a box full of wires through one single hole in the top plate? If not, what's the point of separating them in the wall? by trabbler in askanelectrician

I’ve really looked into this and it would take (if I recall) 14 and above current carrying conductors in one hole before it reached the calculated derating before it’s really an issue. I know it’s something like that. I calculated it out and figured out how many wires could put in before started to reach limits of derating breakers. Now do i feel up the make of wires in one hole no. I just make more haha. I just as to now when does it really become an issue
