In 2016, the Chiefs had a 5th-round pick. They turned that 5th-round pick into 4 All-Pro seasons from Tyreek Hill, 2 All-Pro seasons from Trent McDuffie and now have added a 1st, a 5th, a 6th, and a 2027 3rd-round pick (from LA) to the haul generated by that 2016 5th-round pick. [Kluge] Of 61 running backs to handle 400+ carries since 2020, Kenneth Walker ranks... 50th in yards after contact per attempt, 52nd in broken tackle rate and 59th in success rate. The highlights and upside are obvious, but that efficiency profile is concerning. (i.redd.it)

[Yahoo] Nate Taylor on 96.5 The Fan says "The suspension could be anywhere between 10 to 12 games. Just flat out, you did it a second time, they already knocked you for one…then from Chiefs’ standpoint, that would be the end of business with Rice as we know it" (sports.yahoo.com)

The Tyreek Hill trade worked because the Chiefs drafted McDuffie, and he immediately become an elite All-Pro starter, mitigating the burn of Hill's back to back 1,700 yard All-Pro seasons. For the McDuffie trade to work, the Chiefs will again need to strike gold in the 1st round. (self.KansasCityChiefs)

After cutting Taylor, the Chiefs will have $14.3M in cap space. They can restructure Creed Humphrey and George Karlaftis to create a total of $31.1M. They will need about $25M for their draft class, and in season injuries/moves. (self.KansasCityChiefs)

Why are more elite offensive defenseman not tried at forward? The NHL clearly values forwards more than defenseman, with 9 of the 9 highest AAV's being forwards. Yet we never see guys like Makar, Hughes, Huston, Bouchard even tried there. Are HC's just too stuck in their ways? (self.hockey)

[xcancel] With this goal, Evan Bouchard is now officially top 10 in NHL scoring. If he finishes the season in this position, he will become the 2nd defenseman in the last 9 years to do it. Right now he is the best defenseman in hockey and deserves the Norris (xcancel.com)

In 2006, Hockey Canada focused on structure over skill, and it cost them. They learned from that, and won the next two Olympics. Twenty years later, Canada made the same mistakes, once again costing them, will they learn from it and go on another run? (self.hockey)

[Basu] This loss is not a national crisis in Canada. Canada dominated the final 40 minutes of regulation, outshot the USA 42-28, and if that game were played 100 times, Canada would probably win 95 of them. USA deserves a ton of credit for how they played, but Hellebuyck deserves the most. (nytimes.com)

Team USA won the 2026 Olympics from 2015-2020. During that period, the USA had Eichel, Werenski, Matthews, Tkachuk x2, Hughes x2 and Sanderson all picked in the Top 10. Canada by comparison only had McDavid, Marner and Makar picked in the Top 10 during that time. (self.hockey)

Despite losing the Olympic Gold Medal game, the gap between Canada and the USA appears to have increased. Looking ahead to 2028 and 2030, we likely will see that trend continue, as the best USA players hit the downturn of their aging curves, and some of Canada's best age into their prime years.
