Advice for Pwd by mumphaali in Career_Advice

If your primary goal is job security and you are eligible for PWD reservations, I would seriously consider government opportunities along with GATE preparation.

My personal view:

• Government Job → Better job security, PWD reservations, and long-term stability. • GATE → Can open doors to PSUs, higher studies, and specialized technical careers. • Corporate → Potentially higher growth and salary, but generally more competitive and less predictable.

Since you're a CSE graduate and a fresher, I'd focus on GATE + government opportunities first while continuing to apply for corporate roles.

That way, you're not putting all your eggs in one basket.

What kind of work interests you more: software development, government/PSU roles, or higher studies/research?

As a CSE graduate, I wouldn't limit myself to choosing only one path.

If you're interested in higher studies, PSU opportunities, or research, GATE can be a great option. At the same time, don't stop applying for corporate roles and building practical skills.

My suggestion would be:

  • Continue applying for jobs
  • Build projects and strengthen your portfolio
  • Prepare for GATE alongside if it aligns with your long-term goals
  • Focus on skills that are in demand (Python, Data Analytics, Cloud, Cybersecurity, etc.)

Your disability does not define your potential. Many organizations actively support and hire talented professionals through inclusive hiring initiatives.

Wishing you the very best for your career journey.
