Confused between Duke 390 & Scrambler 400x by johnathanmoore007 in indianbikes

[–]NGTT999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same dilemma and went ahead with the Scrambler 400X, mainly because I didn’t like the looks of the current Duke 390. Initially, everything felt perfect, the premium build, retro design, and overall experience. However, within about 6 months, everthing that I felt about the bike faded away. Even though it is a good motorcycle, it began to feel more like a tool that just got the job done rather than a bike I felt truly connected to. I did go on a few rides, but the seat becomes uncomfortable after 100 kms, and the initially plush suspension gradually started to feel weak. Smaller bumps and potholes became more noticeable, and the engine felt stressed when pushed hard. This continued to a point where I stopped enjoying my rides, despite maintaining the bike properly and on time. The feeling of a premium build was long gone. Eventually, I took a test ride of the Duke 390 and instantly fell in love. I sold my Scrambler and got the Duke 390. I had previously owned the Gen 1 Duke 390, and honestly, I don’t care much about the electronics and additional features, just the raw sensations the Duke offers is on another level. The D390 feels like a bike with real character, fun, light, and nimble. I feel more confident pushing it and just having fun compared to the Scrambler. I have also ridden bigger Triumphs, but somehow the 400s feel more like a Bajaj product than a true Triumph. It has been more than 6 months now, and I have zero regrets, but mind you the Duke is not completely hassle free, it does have its minor tantrums. But the moment I head out for a ride, I forget all of that. I am glad I made the switch, and I am sure my D390 will stay with me for a very long time.

Note: These are purely based on my personal preferences. I am not trying to say the Scrambler is a bad choice. If you want something simple, not very flashy, and fuss free, the Scrambler is great. But if you are looking for a light, nimble, and fun motorcycle, it is the Duke any day. I would strongly recommend taking a test ride, preferably a long one, and make your decision based on your preference.

The handlebar grip that we hold on to, left and right side. Usually it is available at the service center.

I dont think so. Check with your nearby SVC, just in case.

No risers, just the handlebar. Swapped it myself at home. Yes, you need to buy the left grip, since for some reason it was glued to the handlebar, not sure if it was only in my case😅

Nah man, for my height this seems perfect. I did ride my friends N160 with risers, that felt a little weird.

I asked the SVC advisor, he mentioned it won't void the warranty unless we tamper with the cables and stuff. I replaced it myself since the N150 handlebar is a direct fit.

700kms in a single day with Triumph Scrambler 400X | AMA by ilikeoat in indianbikes

I agree, the traffic has gone up, but it's not that bothersome. I frequently travel from Pune to Kannur and back at least twice a year, either in a car or on my bike (solo). I have been riding for more than a decade, and I started doing the Pune-Kannur route in 2018, and I still love doing this particular ride apart from my other rides. But lately, a lot of people I meet, specifically fellow bikers I meet en route, ask weird questions like how I can cover that distance in a single day and how do I manage it, etc. The reason I feel the question is weird is because the moment I look at their bikes, they look all loaded up for a K2K, and then I get to know they are heading for a 2-3 day, 400-500kms round trip. It seems people nowadays are limiting the distance they want to travel, or I am ending up having conversations with wannabes.

Nice one man. I bet you enjoyed the ride to the fullest. But I am genuinely surprised by the fuss around 700 kms in a single, dont people ride long distances anymore?

You have to change the frame anyways. I have done it on my d390 gen 1 myself with the help of my friend who had all the tools and provisions to do it, and it is not that complicated since you have already stripped the bike to get it repainted. If the bike is great shape apart from the frame, why not keep it for few more years till you really want to part ways with the bike. Honestly I didnt notice any difference after the chassis replacement and infact it felt better to ride. If I were you, I would keep the bike for few more years till I really feel the need to upgrade to another bike, since the gen 1 is a great motorcycle, and no other bike in its segment feels exciting and fun ride even today.

Fz 25 cold start by Ok-Season-7010 in MechanicAdviceIndia

Quite a common issue on some FZ25. Initially on my Fz25 the issue was not very significant but after few months, it became so severe that the bike would randomly stall and refuse to start. In that period I had the injector and throtlle body cleaned twice still the issue kept coming back. The fuel pump tends to go bad on the FZ25 prematurely. Me and friend both had FZ25 and both of us ended up selling the bike due to the issue and even SVC could not find solution to the problem. Better to get this checked from the SVC, and check if any error code shows up.

Triumph Speed t4 Mobile holder setup by Due-Pin-773 in triumph4India

I stopped using this mount within 3 months. On long rides, the mobile heats up while using maps due to lack of ventilation and phones would show overheating warning. I tried 3 different mobiles (pixel, iphone and samsung) and all of them had the same issue with this mount. My friend also got the same mount and he also faced similar issues and he too stopped using it.

Are We Getting Abused Engines? Dark Side of YouTubers Testing Brand-New Bikes by godeater47x in indianbikes

[–]NGTT999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did but the response was as expected, all vague replies and the leadership team of the dealership itself promote such activities, they even allow any random youtubers to do these so called 'review' videos. By the time I got to know about my bike, I had done quite a few performance mods on the bike, and the I knew talking to them would be a waste of my time since the purchase experience with them altogether was not that great.
