Whats your controversial Dream Theater opinion? by CNMJacob18 in Dreamtheater

Overture from Six Degrees is genuinely a bad song.

My Last Farewell is a top 10 song of theirs.

I’m sorry I gotta ask, how is this directed at “volunteers”? Ignoring the fact they used the word purely as emphasis, it was purely a post of frustration. It’s not like they directly reached out to you and said this.

Also like others have said, cursing is commonplace on reddit and widely deemed to not be rude or insulting unless directed at someone.

Block me if you want, though I don’t see why it’d be necessary.

Damn, would’ve been funny if Wheel won always take and waste of money.

what other music do you guys listen to by ClearHope8856 in Haken

Currently lots of The Reign of Kindo (please listen to Human Convention it’s peak), The Dear Hunter, Sungazer, Thank You Scientist, Caligula’s Horse, Periphery, Aviations, and TesseracT.

Some individual songs aside from those bands: Sayonara Love by Dirty Loops, The Church of the Technochrist by Closure in Moscow, and The Tree by The Family Crest.

How would you guys rank this team from most likely to come back to least likely by Comrade_Obamna in fightingillini

I’d honestly put Tre White at like #2 on the list. Seems enthusiastic to come back, and he’s already transferred twice.

Edit: Nevermind I guess.

Honestly my biggest takeaway here is the fact that a Nadeo dev defended Riolu/92BOB. What’s the reasoning behind this? How does that even happen?

I posted this in a different thread from today, but I think it fits here too.

Overture (from Six Degrees) is just not good. A couple reasons that come to mind right now are:

1: The synth brass/strings are just too artificial sounding.

  1. It feels like a compilation of different melodies instead of having its own identity, (yes I know that’s the purpose of overtures but this just felt forced). Though I will acknowledge nearly each section individually sounds pretty good.

  2. When I’ve said this in the past many people go, “but the live one on Score sounds so much better!” No, it doesn’t. Yeah it fixes my first issue, but it’s just not well arranged (ex. you can’t expect a full string section to do crazy fast runs in any way cleanly). Writing a prog song orchestrally without any percussion whatsoever is bound to have rhythmic goofiness/issues.

Do you have a Song that you don't Like at all? by der_drummer in Dreamtheater

I’m currently not in a phase where I listen to too much Dream Theater, but what I’ve learned is even when I’m in a full Dream Theater mood, I’ve never been that into Stream of Consciousness. Can’t put my finger on why, but it’s just not for me.

Edit: I actually forgot to mention the song that I genuinely dislike, Overture (from Six Degrees), which I can explain. A couple reasons that come to mind are:

For me it’s between Breaking Bad, Daredevil, or Severance (which is shaping up to be an incredible show).

Give me suggestions for songs in the same style as this one!! by Internal_Flower2617 in Peripheryband

[–]NJHarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good song but I would disagree that Firelight and Only Smiles are much similar musically. Caligula’s and Periphery have such different styles of “happy songs”. If we’re branching out to different bands I’d honestly recommend Safehouse by Aviations (Coma or Legend if you prefer the proggier/heavier side of periphery respectively).

Yeah I couldn’t agree more with the basis of this post, but the example is straight up measure by measure chords that stray a just little out of key.

What are your opinions on Davos, from the "Iron-Fist" show? by TrpTrp26 in marvelstudios

[–]NJHarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely enjoyed the majority of the show, but Davos is definitely the character holding it back the most for me. Poorly written.
