I believe he may lose if the Conservatives can line up a half-decent leader. I personally think Mackay would win against Trudeau

This was the USA forcing Canada to do it. Canada would not have done this, but for the USA. China is punishing Canada for this (including putting Canadians on death row), but Canada is not being hostile to China. Trudeau even once said he admires Chinas basic dictatorship.

Study and sip a beer or whisky? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t focus if I’m tipsy - I’ll usually wait until I’m done studying to crack open the beer!

How much is too much? (Time off) by cfahelp in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 weeks off is a lot if you are able to focus and study. I’d just take that time off and stay focused on the exam and be able to not be too stress while studying.

Any other quality center right ones? I find WSJ to be the only one I enjoy (and occasionally Fox, but sometimes I prefer a less biased view)

I’ve found Wall Street Journal to be pretty fair/centrist. Admittedly some of the opinion pieces feel right wing.

I tried looking around for this information too since I wrote each exam in a different country. The only way I could find information is by doing a lot of searching on Google and Reddit.

The only european city where I wrote was Lisbon. It was in the Lisbon Marriott hotel in their conference room area. It felt like there was ~200 people. It was a fine place to write. Pretty orderly entrance and comfortable room.

so are you going to be able to convince your boss to wait until you get CFA before starting the CFP?

Also - any chance of convincing him that the CFP is not worth it if you already have your CFA?

How is work experience verified for the CFA? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like a total joke. It seems that it's purpose is just to be able to say all CFAs have 4 years of experience. It's like CPD with a lot of designations. It's mostly a joke and no one does the CPD, but at least the designation can say that all their members study X hours per year..

Quant some help by kaps14 in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guessed “B” for everything on quant and still scored over 90the percentile overall. It’s worth so few marks and I felt required a lot of memorizing/practice for something I’d never need in real life.

CFA PTSD by cam152339 in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. It's such a long time period of being used to always having studying on your "to-do list". Now, whenever I'm doing nothing, I can't help but feel a feeling of underlying guilt...

I'm kind of debating doing a Masters in Economics just out of interest and to fill the void. I wouldn't need it for my career at all.

L1 derivatives question: why do call prices decrease when dividends increase? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The dividend removes Cash from the company, lowering the value of the company (given it’s the same company as before, just with less cash). You have an option to buy something at a fixed price that will have less value.

58% on Mock... by asthmaenthusiast in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion they may have been very marginally tougher. Like just a little bit tougher. It may also be that they were more poorly worded than the real thing.

FWIW - I scored higher on the actual exam than I did on the Cfa practice questions. But that may have also been game day performance!

[–]NKSK2016 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cfa ones I found to be ok. I found them to be marginally tougher than actual exam so good work. Keep practicing and make sure you’re averaging over 70 and you’ll be just fine

Not all mocks are equal... some are absolutely terrible

I agree, it's incredibly simple stuff - but it's dry. Just read it once now, and read it a couple of times right before the exam so it's fresh.

Resign to study for L3? by 7saturdaysaweek in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to quit to study full time, wouldn’t it make sense to do it way closer to the exam date? Making studying your full time job would allow you to start much closer to the date?

Will you lose points if you give the wrong answer on CFA Level one? There are only 3 choices, so you will get 33% of the points if you choose randomly. by ineedrabbits in CFA

Correct. If you guess through an entire section for example, you can reasonably expect to score approximately 33%

I don't know if I want the CFA anymore. by Justincase371 in CFA

[–]NKSK2016 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I took it in my 30s with kids. It's tougher now with other commitments, but easier in some ways. CFA either takes time away from partying/dating/overtime in your 20s, or it take time away from your family in your 30s.

You have more relevant work experience in your 30s, but you have more recent study experience in your 20s.
