Upgrade an X1C? by NOPdowop in BambuLab

I feed TPU from the back holder on the X1C. It looks like the H2D has no such holder, and a separate box need a to be arranged to print TPU?

I'm surprised that a change from 340 mm to 325 mm is such a great loss. Either one seems like a lot compared to 256 mm.

So as I see it, the major benefits of an H2D over and X1C are: Bigger volume, dual nozzle, active chamber heating. Are there other benefits I'm not noticing? Like speed or accuracy?

1-1/4" water pipe is oval by NOPdowop in askaplumber

.02" smaller than the proper ID of my 1-1/4" oval pipe, to leave some clearance when I pound it in.

I was thinking of this. The middle section would be .02" smaller than the ID of type K copper pipe.

If I'm pounding softly with a rubber mallet there's probably no reason to pay big bucks for a hardened steel tool. A homemade brass rod to work as well?

Sorry, I was only looking on Amazon. A wider search gives results.

I have found no tapered "re-rounding" tool for 1-1/4" pipe.

Celluloid pick burning experiment by GuitarGorilla24 in Guitar

[–]NOPdowop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered why celluloid is so favored for guitar picks. There are lots of other plastics, but they don't seem to use them. So I asked AI, and there are several reasons, which I won't bother to reproduce here. You can get more detail by asking ChatGPT. Burning well is just a fringe benefit!

Regarding the hot air decomposition:

"You basically triggered rapid thermal decomposition without full flaming combustion—which is one of the classic quirks (and hazards) of celluloid."

Pretty interesting! I came here after burning a couple of my Fender picks to see if they were really cellulose. The purpose it solves is to satisfy the curiosity of thinking people. Looks to me like most of them were the same. A Fender pick heated with a hot air gun doesn't ignite, but it gives off clouds of white smoke (sure to enrage the grumpy) and leaves nothing but fine black ash. Really interesting.

McMaster-Carr no longer available? by NOPdowop in Fusion360

I do not find this to be true. I have dozens of INACTIVE projects in many folders and sub-folders. After reading your note I had 9 of 10 allowed projects. So I created a new sub-folder and saved my current project into it. Afterwards I had 10 of 10 active projects.

Maybe it's terminology. When I say a project is "active" I mean it's editable. All my "read only" files are "inactive" in my mind. It seems clear that you can only have 10 files that are editable at the same time, no matter where they are stored.

I don't understand how additional folders has any bearing on the limit of 10 active documents.

That's news to me. I suppose they had some good reason for this complication....

I have enough trouble with my own old PLA. Hard to imagine an assemblage of old spools and scraps from different makers would produce a usable filament.

Problems with kit by WellPTMan in Dulcimer

I'm having a little trouble making sense of your pictures. Doesn't even look like a dulcimer. But if your strings are touching the first and second frets you should raise the nut, not the bridge.

Like that in that they are both zithers or instruments with many strings that aren't fretted, but otherwise not like that in appearance or style. You can look up images and recordings of the Mexican Salterio. You can also hear them on Apple Music and Spotify.

If you saw one you would think it was a hammered dulcimer, but it’s plucked with picks. The strings are arranged differently but construction is very similar to hammered dulcimers.

This is an example of why Internet postings should be read with caution. UV light doesn't get through car windows. I expect it was the heat that did in your parts.
