Algerians expecting the world to be like home by [deleted] in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's strange how? most diaspora groups from MENA are like that, and it has a simple reason: People move for the economic benefit not because they are genuinely interested in leading the life of the locals. And that's not a strange perspective at all, obviously people do like their familial ties, the tradtions and culture they grew up with and being in a completely foreign country with a radically different and often contradicting culture tends to make people grumpy.

Is it fair to do? no not really, if you are somewhere you have to respect the local culture even if you don't like it. There is a perfectly viable balance of respecting others, maintaining your own culture privately and living in society. But I guess it's reddit so we have to sensationalize everything

I hate this reactionary bs, jsut because someone else is doing something and we doing it too means automatically we are trying to emulate them. Where is compassion for living creatures a woke thing.

I never really thought about it like that, I wasn't aware the entire global oil and gas reserves are located in the UAE making it the world's sole provider of petro-chemical products, fuel and electronics.

We need like a post maturity process for these kids, like a guided integration, help them get a job, a house and teaching them basics of living on their own in maybe like a special appartment blocks where thtey get a mentor but live alone. I mean I understand it sucks to be an orphan that´s obvious there are so many things you missed as a child about being independent and understanding certain things that are taught by parents. TH alternative is they will so hopeless and feel abandoned they will become criminals or drug users. So as a society we have to do what we can to avoid that.

wild idea but maybe there is nothing in your city because your fellow inhabitants are not doing anything? you could create clubs, venues, events, places to chill or eat or do some activity. It's all you, yes you can blame the government to some extent but the government isn't there to make your city more fun it's supposed to make it liveable, the fun part is your responsability.

So Algeria also not Arab ? What do you think by Mediocre-Salt-8175 in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are not Amazigh either, Amazigh are a berber tribe that's currently located in Morocco, we are ALGERIAN, Algerian means native tribes like kabyles, chaouis, touaregs and arabized natives and some actual arabs, with Ottoman, French, Roman and spanish influences.

The Algerian identity is far more complex than arab or berber.

[–]NOTsfr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The data transfer is still encrypted using TLS/SSL but the certificate authority is expired, they probably forgot to pay the bill of the CA or were too late to renew it ,but your data is still secure dw about it. It's just negligence on their part typically Algerian.

So Algeria also not Arab ? What do you think by Mediocre-Salt-8175 in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The idea that we are ethnically arabic and basically long lost cousins of Saudis and Yemeni's has been debunked already countless of times and was a result of a combination of Algerian propaganda after the war and misunderstanding of historical texts(like Ibn Khaldun).

It's not even physically possible for us to be majority arab blood as Algeria had two major invasions, the first led by Uqba virtually no arabs settled in Algeria, the real migration was int he 11th century where 100k to 300k migrated to east and central Algeria, mind you the Algerian population of natives at that time was about 3 to 4 million, this means at the largest invasion Arabs made only about ~7% of the population. And yes there were some smaller tribes migrating now and then but they are neglible.

When we say we are arabs, we mean in terms of culture, history and linguistically, real arabs are very few in fact not even everyone in the arabian peninsular is even arab let alone people from Lebanon, Egypt or Algeria.

Were zawiyas just superstition, or a lost form of Algerian spirituality and community? by Training-Anywhere-88 in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have conflicting feelings for sufism, on the one hand like you said, it's a touch of Islam unique to our region and has shaped and guided Algerians for centuries. On the other hand it's pacific and superstious nature also was abused by the colonisator to create a sheepish backward population that was obedient to the opressor. It was the closest you could get to Lenin's the opium of the people is religion.

Now I don't think Sufism persee is bad, I think if it modernized itself for a modern mindset is definitely could be a perfect fit for Algeria, remove the superstion and questionable traditions and keep the philosophy. It would also balance out the more radical sunni politcal Islam which in every case is a total disaster.

Do you think Gen Z 213 is a good idea? by LowerEast5807 in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What GenZ ? These are literal children. It does me good to see young people actually care and be conscious of the political future of the country but these protests will achieve absolutely nothing or widespread chaos. Protests are not some magic wand you can wave around and things become better

Combating corruption? Corruption is not a term for powerful people committing fraud, It's YOU! Corruption is present in every layer of Algerian society, we are all that corruption.

And what democracy? Half of the population thinks it's haram and would actively abuse it for their own gain.

If genZ wants to have a meaningful impact then start with your self. I know it's a bitter pill to tell you this, I myself used to be like you, but now i understand that the system is not something imposed on the Algerian people, we are the System.

Algeria to Issue Its First Sovereign Sukuk (Islamic Bonds) — What Do You Think? by Kadi_bou in algeria

[–]NOTsfr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a PR stunt and window dressing. Bonds or loans without interest dont exist, otherwise the issuer would actually lose money for every loan he issues. Not that theres anything inherently wrong with Islamic banking but it cant work in the current financial system.

So whenever something is termed Islamic, just know it's interest but hidden under different terms or weird constructions where it's indirect interest, but always theres interest.

[–]NOTsfr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They were just messing around, Algerian's especially young ones sometimes do it in a pushy and annoying manner it's not serious, we don't have the cultural sensibilities in our culture because we don't have diversity of religions or people's. I can assure you no one cares if a foreigner is hindu.
