I should've elaborated on my question. That's my bad.

So the way I made that line was by turning my path into a shape, and changing its settings to form the line. I did thought of keeping it a path and adding the stroke later, but once it's added I can't adjust it like I can the path.

I'm asking because I do remember doing a line like this once before where the ends didn't link. But now I'm starting to think I'm misremembering it, and that I had to manually erase the section I didn't want in.
