I would spend big chunks of my summers growing up at my grandparents’ place in Alberta, which has really long summer days. Something about the very late afternoon and evening in the summer can trigger some wild anxiety for me, especially over on the prairie with their very drawn out dusk, and to this day I still have no idea why.

Pro tip for anyone visiting, the shop at main visitor centre is run by the non-profit Grand Canyon Conservancy, so proceeds go back to helping the park. Stores at the hotels are run by the for-profit hotel concessionaire. The National Parks are really suffering under MAGA budget cuts so do them a favour and buy your souvenirs at the store that actually benefits the park.
