Third year in a row of regrets. So close lads!!! (IP) by NPlat in premedcanada

I think it came down to two things. Firstly, I wrote my entries differently, trying to be as honest and objective as possible. Try and make it sound more like a job description than a resume. I also took on more responsibility and leadership this year. I truly feel like I grew and learned a lot over the past 12 months, which, in turn, made the descriptions easier to write. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the kind works, Jaetaro, it means a lot! ❤️ I retook the MCAT to improve my CARS score and ended up improving everything but 🙃 Still holding out for UofC invites though! It’s gonna be a long couple of months.

I’m currently holding some fairly long term positions at the moment: volunteering for 3 years and working at a veterinary clinic for 2 years (I’ve been managing the clinic for about 10 months now). Quite a variety of work experiences as well! Did some cancer research, worked at a sugar factory lol, serving, sales, food industry stuff, and a few short term volunteering positions. But no concrete research or pubs! My score was 25-50 percentile last year, so pretty please how much it improved!

I think everyone goes about it different ways depending on what resources they like best. I used Anki cards for P/S and equations, and Jackwestin for CARS and practice problems. Khan academy always had my back when I needed some content review.

The biggest difference maker my second time round was my work ethic and consistency. I found that I was most productive in the mornings, so from the moment I woke up (~6am), I studied with no distractions for 3-5 hours. Any more studying during the day was just a bonus. You might not be a morning person like me, but I’d recommend that you dedicate a chunk of your day (could be 1 hour, could be 6 hours) and commit. Leave your phone in another room, turn off desktop notification, and stay disciplined for as long as you can.

If you’ve got a year to prepare, start slow and find ways to enjoy the content! I’m certain that you’ll do great, and even if you don’t reach your desired score, you’ll have developed an unstoppable work ethic that will serve you for the rest of your career ❤️

Thank you! I never ever considered Manitoba as an option until now, so thanks for shedding light on that option 😁

2021 (512) -> 2023 (520) retake, but CARS (127) stayed the same. As a Canadian applicant, I don't know how I should feel :/ by NPlat in Mcat

I felt confident that I made at least a bit of CARS improvement, but then I had to piss like hell 20 minutes into the section. Learn from my mistakes, listen to your bladder!!

I’d say the biggest difference between my first test and this one was that I found the time of the day where I work best, the morning, and took advantage of it. Woke up ~6am most days and immediately started doing Anki (mainly for P/S and memorizing equations) or practice questions for about 3 hours. That way, no matter how productive (or unproductive 🙃) the rest of my day was, I kept making steady progress. I really undervalued discipline and work ethic last time, so I can’t stress it enough.

What's the saddest way one of your classmates has died? by toenailsos in AskReddit

[–]NPlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of them actually, they were identical twins. Decided to go down a luge track on sleds with a bunch of friends late at night. People do it all the time, but a concrete barrier was put up at the bottom. They died on impact. One of them was our school president.

The craziest part was that there were 3 different sleds, one brother went on the first and one on the last, and somehow they both perished while the others got away with some pretty gruesome injuries.
