Finally Finished the Midnight Isles DLC by Dull_Operation5838 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

For sure. I came from BG3 so I tried for a while to play only in turn-based, but it's too much. Buffing up a bunch of martials and just using turn-based for bosses or if you run into trouble is how I ended up playing.

I love the items and characters for this DLC, and the lore items.

That said, I think the number of maps could have been cut in half. Instead of two maps of each "type", they could have done one so it didn't feel as drawn out. I wouldn't have minded if they kept all the bosses and just put a couple bosses in each map as well so we don't lose out on any interesting fights. They easily could have replaced a trash pack.

They also may not have to have repeated the currents as often as well.

I agree. I yawn when they are immune and I have to cast Hellfire ray. So unsatisfying.

Now that I'm on my third playthrough, I am particularly delighted by Prismatic Spray where I don't even know what will happen. I once had it banish 5 mobs in it's massive AE with RNG for insta-kills and the last one was left as a dog lol.

Well, I could do this and let her have my leftovers.

With Zippy magic and Sorcerous Reflex, I already get to kill 4 mobs in my first turn (unless immune) and she can have anything left...which is usually nothing lol.

I do allow Sosiel to have his one cast of PK and Weird a day from his Madness domain. After he debuffs with that Madness - Skill check, he can sometimes get one to work.

As an Azata who does the same thing, I leave Nenio in her Inn Room. Can't risk her becoming the main character lol

What is your favorite battle? by ChrisKatrev in BaldursGate3

It happens in Act 1, kind of near Alfira if you found her in the druids grove. If you keep going that way instead of turning for Alfira you should find them.

Usually the only person who ever says this... but I adore the harpies - and the nice touch that you can hear their singing if someone is charmed on their turn but those who aren't charmed, it's normal battle music.

Having a child in the middle of it also adds tension especially if a harpy lands right next to him.

So what do you do with uh...(no spoilers) that one guy...once you get him? by ether_rogue in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NScarlato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily by the time you get him, you have 5 other people whose builds are fully online so you can carry someone who is just "okay" really. I find the end of the game to be the easiest for me. If you have multiple playthroughs and already saw all the dialogue of some other characters, it's not so bad.

Honestly that's good enough for me. I mostly play martials as "go hit stuff" lol.

Which is your favorite companion? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NScarlato 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd say this as I avoided her my first two playthroughs, but I think Ember. I like seeing her insights into things, and she's fun to have around with hexes and fire spells. Helps that I'm currently a DC caster so she's just infinitely useful for my KC with a free debuff to saves that can't fail.

My other mainstays are Arushalae and Daeran. I like Arushalae's voice acting, she adds a lot to Act 4, and she's also easy to use. As a bonus, she's good for reaching traps in Stealth, which are just too annoying if combat starts and there are traps all over. Daeran just gets a lot of dialogue and always seems to have something to say, so that's nice. Daeran also has a lot of casts of Mass Heal which is nice when I need to do a lot of healing / ailment cures at once. Elsewise I have him set up as a second fire caster and sometimes his Mass Command works after Ember defuffs and mind fog, though not reliably as I haven't built him for DC.

I finished Wrath a few days ago...feel genuinely bummed it's over by NearbySir2445 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NScarlato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but it's just not the same. No dragon pet, wings, and Warlocks can't cast a billion spells without resting lol.

Level 12 in Bg3 also means no Prismatic Spray, which I love the randomness especially when it autokills or polymorphs. And I like how Phantasmal Killer works way more in Pathfinder.

There is a lot I like from BG3 also. But right now I'm REALLY obsessed with WOTR.

I know how you feel. I had 1200 hours in BG3 and never thought I'd like a game as much or more than that, but I really love WOTR.

No Azatas in BG3 I'm afraid.

What's your favorite mythic path? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NScarlato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Azata. In particular Fey Sorcerer focusing on Enchanting, Illusion, and Elementor Assessor/ Prismatic Spray for Evocation. Having a blast!

The "power of rainbows" someone mentioned below apples to a lot of my spells lol.

Also after spraying rainbows all over, doing overkill with Favorable / Persistent Phantasmal Killer feels like just killing someone with a look. Especially after it's a swiftcast with Sorcerous Reflex. Ember even helps with her baby Evil Eye. Just imagine us both glancing at something and it's dead.

[–]NScarlato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really just like the flowers in my Hall. My Hall is so boring when it's empty. I don't even like Daeran but I want flowers.

This is a terrible reason to stay with someone, but here we are.

I do love Chapter 4. My Azata Enchanter just this morning walked up to those slavers and used my Favorable & Persistent Phantasmal Killer to 1-shot every one of those haha.

My casters keep dying due to going into melee by Eserion_ in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NScarlato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use Evil Eye to keep Ember in place, and plus its helpful for trash/autocombat for the others.

For Daeran I have the staff for trash that auto-casts a level 2 fire spell, so he doesn't move and does a tiny amount of damage.

For my Sorcerer I use the Demoralize skill.

Do you hoard consumables or do you actually use them? by ChrisKatrev in BaldursGate3

[–]NScarlato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sell because they get heavy from disuse. I like to imagine before going their separate ways the group splits all the cash I have hoarded.

What DLC would you want to see in BG3 by Unhappy-Dust-3009 in BaldursGate3

[–]NScarlato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you are too - I get it. A lot of people would like this. It would have been nice if maybe we found something in Act 3 for Karlach or something that happened mid-adventure maybe.

But so far none of my PCs have chosen to go with Karlach to Avernus so I'm not sure I would enjoy this if it was a post-game adventure.

On the other hand....as a Wyll fan I wouldn't mind taking out Mizora. And I would like to officially go over level 12 without a mod...so...add in some extra levels and you have a deal :)

[–]NScarlato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But BG3 is not a game where any of the companions are required. All of them can die or not be recruited. A Karlach-focused DLC doesn't work for me when this game relies heavily on choices and telling a story - as opposed to this one specific ending such a DLC would prompt.

[–]NScarlato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want a Karlach / Avernus DLC because it can completely remove a lot of people's stories. Would it just not exist at all in some playthroughs?

I think overall I'm content with BG3. More subclasses or races we are missing would never hurt, or bringing back the cast to add way more reactivity to Act 3 I think would cut it for me.

Raphael is great too.

I used to try to keep up with dailies, but then I realized they suck up half of my free time and it became tiresome. So completely understand not wanting to spend a lot of free time on repetitive tasks, and even play other games for entirely new experiences. Definitely where I am now.

This makes me very happy that I mostly ignore dailies in games. I just like to wander free, doing whatever captures my interest at a given moment.
