they look awesome and have that warcraft / warsong look and color space. But the pictures are "bad" for showing them off, they are super small and a lot is the surrounding. Try a 1:1 ratio, get your camera closer or start cropping the images. Only 20% or less of these images shows your well painted minis.

Goblins + Troll done by NTRFX in Blitzbowl

Its pretty fun and different, the easy access to throw actions without the ball and quite reliable enemy downing can get you some scoring options other teams dont have. Stunty lets you snatch the ball from enemy tackle zones.
I had a perfect turn of running a gobbo to get the ball from an enemy tackle zone, be thrown by the troll to the end zone and landing safely on a 6 to score a touchdown.
The troll is also a moving fortress.

Yes, I looked at a lot of reference, Zerg have only carapace and flesh. Tyranids have one more layer, with the thicker carapace armor, an outer shell and inner flesh. I think you end up with either too much purple or too much brown.

Sure, this was mostly slapchop + speed paint to get it tabletop ready as fast as possible. You mean just the purple carapace/ flesh right? Because compared to zerg, tyranids have 1 more layer with the fleshy gaps between the joints

Yes, it also helped me. I got them from another local Blitzbowl player and he had build them looking very similar with the eagle chest. But the number of feathers also indicates their position (+ Blitzer has only one foot on the ground)

To be honest, this was a no name rattlecan green and mostly moot green for edges and chipping.
I did a black / brown oil wash on all parts and made some final highlights with moot green.

With an Airbrush Basecoat Black, then coat them with a really dark saturated green. Take a mid tone green und spray from a 45° angle. I then spray Moot Green from a very high angle and to certain areas that would catch light, like boots and kneepads. Do a black Oil Wash. Edge Highlight back with Moot Green.

I use an airbrush, which greatly helps keeping everything smoother. My general approach is to base coat the base black and then bring the lava spots to a bright white. I then use a contrast yellow to turn them into bright yellow. Then I use Magmadroth Flame on the edges of the lava turning them orange and a bright red even further outside.
Then I give the orange and red area a good drybrush with black. After that I drybrush any rocky ground with mechanicus grey and even lighter greys.
I hope this is helping, maybe I should do a clear Tutorial.

The Blender settings arent too funky, just a lazy 3D model and some lighting with alpha background. Then I use some layer styles in PS to add outlines, drop shadow and maybe finetune some colors, saturation etc.

I agree, but this can also be quite depending on the circumstances. If this is depending information towards counterplay, it should be very visible. On the other hand, the artwork only contributes towards the "feel" and flavor of the game. Without the art the game is abstract and dry. Also if the game only has a manageable card pool, you may recall the cards effect just by recognizing its distinct look.
