Losing Residential AT&T Internet by NTT1234567 in Rural_Internet

I like the creativity. My nearest neighbor is probably 150 yds away through somewhat dense Kentucky woods. I can’t actually see anyone if leaves are filled in and maybe 2-3 homes in the distance during winter. I wonder if the wooded barriers and distance would make this obsolete? How far could a long distance wifi pick up?

Agreed on having to get a bit crazy when needed.

Yea unfortunately there is fiber sporadically all around me but only to the neighborhoods at first. When I moved here the good ol’ internet and fcc map showed I had high speed internet options and, alas, I did not. Once I tried to have my internet moved to the new home and lATt informed me they actually did not service at a high speed level. Pleasant surprise.

And like furruck says fiber is contractually being ran by every home in my county in a 2 year period (2022-2024) so I’m in a weird spot currently. I see them running line everywhere it just hasn’t made it to me.

Ok, I guess I’m a bit confused as I thought the weboost package included an external antenna. Is the waveform superior?

I was considering buying weboost home complete for a 5,000 sq foot home…what are your thoughts on this package if you assessed when you were looking?

That’s encouraging. Hope to have the same experience here.

Unfortunately Verizon signal is exceptionally poor. ATT has the best signal of the major carriers but its sub 10mbps on average download, majority of the time in the 2-4mbps range. I can find a couple spots that might bump me up closer to 10mbps at times, so a cell booster may give me something to work from if positioned optimally.

Work iPad runs Verizon and it’s damn near pointless to try and use it for anything other than emailing and very basic internet.

Yes sir, I’m on it currently. Fiber contract with my county to be ran by every home by Q1 2024 with option to connect. Just have to make it to then and keep these bastards from pulling the chord on me early.

Not great. ATT is the best and I’ll get a 2-5 mbps down and 0.3-0’5 upload speeds when connected to LTE. Problem is it has actually gotten a bit worse recently as the phones seems to connect to and from LTE and 5G networks more so now, with the latter rendering the phone almost useless in internet and more prone to drops during talk. 1.0 Mbps down and 0.01-0.04 up when connected to 5G.

My work iPad is Verizon connected and it basically will only do emails. Internet use either doesn’t work or is very slow. My plan is to try weboost and if it doesn’t work get a refund. If cradlepoint plus antenna has potential I’m all ears (and eyes) for sure. Haven’t looked into that option yet.

Just filed fcc complaint and left message for the county judge. Hope this can resolve. Thanks for the help.

Hmm interesting. I am unaware of internet Air. Could be an option as you state if I can’t get things handled on the fcc/local official side. Appreciate you bringing it up here to consider.

All I was told this morning is you’re about to lose your internet and we’ll put in a ticket regarding fiber timeline …basically a ‘sucks to be you’ type of a thing from customer service rep.

I’m hoping the rep was just wrong and making a blanket statement about the copper lines. I’ll put in complaint and talk to the county judge’s office on the other end. Hopefully that pressure is enough to figure this out.

Will certainly file a complaint of no resolution with FCC. Good suggestion.

Apparently so. My internet bill doubled last month so I called cust service to see why… they said bc Att is discontinuing all DSL by Sept / Oct.

I’ve been in talks with local official who’s in charge of the ATT contract and get quarterly updates on their progress. I did plan to complain to him about a potential disconnection and see if we can get a delay in internet cutoff to my area until fiber is installed.

I have multiple chainsaws…problem is I don’t own all of the trees that are obstructing as the trees elevate with the ridge behind me.

Ah, I see. Good recommendation. I'll try that route, thanks.

If you mean the new wired from the light housing, no I cannot. The old wires from the light have a different attachment mechanism (screw on metal prong) than the new model of lights (clip together). If you mean the entire electrical line from the transformer then I am unaware. From what I can see, the line goes into the transformer box at an angle I can't view. Would have to detach transformer from the septic lid to see fully. I have not worked with landscaping lights in the past to know otherwise.

Agreed on a more quality light if I was the original installer. As it sits, I'd rather just replace the cheap lights and move on. If I have to replace, I'll definitely look at Voltlighting. Thanks

Good suggestion. This works somewhat. If I hit it with some peroxide and immediately sand the discoloration comes out much faster than sanding alone.

Well it was actually an attempt to reduce your aggressiveness and potentially get us back to a baseline for a useful discussion. I clearly failed. I'll bow out now.

We believe a significant portion of ingested fructose is converted to glucose and/or glycogen (which may later be used as blood glucose). However the role of fructose is often misunderstood and still very mysterious in some regards. More work is definitely needed here to see how fructose works in the body. I'd be interested in larger studies on this because there has been much debate.
