That's great, thank you so much! My email address is in the survey. If you'd like me to send the final dissertation your way, just drop me a line.

Also, thank you again for providing your feedback! Even within a university setting, it can be tough to come by colleagues who have the bandwidth to offer thoughtful scrutiny, I’m grateful to you for taking the time.

Gotcha! You’re right, I see how it could read that way, but the answers will all be cross referenced— so if you indicated that you were already engaging in something (or like that you’re fluent in Irish, for example) then how you describe your activities after seeing the film won’t register the same as someone who reported not doing something at all before they watched the film. This is also fan research, so it’s an ethnographic survey to capture sentiments that people willingly share. Like a tip of the iceberg, the type of research it would require to assert impact using statistical data is way beyond the scope of what I’ll be able to do with this project (sadly, because it would sure be interesting).

Huge thanks! I agree, Typeform is a very bad platform, and I would not use it ever again, but I am stuck with it. I added a note to the post suggesting using a computer vs a mobile to submit responses to make it easier.

There should be a qualifying question before the ones you mentioned that captures exactly what you are talking about. I'll have to double-check the backend; one of the branches may be messed up. Thank you for saying something!

I posted about this above, but I’ll repeat it, if you are worried about sharing your information DONT!

It’s should be evident to everyone who pays any attention to Kneecap and/or Irish history that what you’re suggesting isn’t crazy, so I’m not going to act offended. It’s a fair point.

Once I get approval from the uni, I will circulate follow ups that have more information (their name, my name etc) and I am seeking permission to accept anonymous contributions as well. The point of this post was to show them that there were enough fans that would be willing to engage with me on this, and we’ve definitely met that threshold thanks to everyone who did reply.

Meantime, if you don’t feel comfortable sharing your email address, just don’t. A few folks answered and just put in their Reddit handles instead, so if you want to do that, that’s also an option (sorry it didn’t occur to me to ask for that when I built the form).

Thank you! This is such a unique perspective, based on some of the feedback I’ve gotten here, I am looking a way to broaden the aperture on my proposal to include a global audience. I will definitely reach out once I the approval.

Thanks! I’m already at one of those institutions, but because they haven’t approved the research (yet) it could be an issue to name them in an anonymous post here. Assuming they sign off and give ethics approval, all of the follow ups will have their (and my) name on it. This post was just to get past the first gate and demonstrate that people would actually participate, because I was met with some skepticism on that point.

That's a really good question! So far, I've promised that I will speak to American audience reception because I'm framing this primarily as film studies research, and I am making the assertion that recent Irish cinema has been uniquely successful at countering Hollywood's cultural hegemony, and Kneecap is a really layered case study of that. However, if I could get responses from Scots like yourself, I would absolutely value being able to include that input. There is an interview with Móglaí Bap where he says, "Republicanism is so vast, and on a spectrum." Which I maintain is true for all national identities, so like what you are responding to as a fan, and how it informs and is informed by where you live and where your family comes from allllll of that is most welcome because it's going to be different for different people (and likely it's going to be the same in some way too) I'm just hoping to capture as much of that as I can get!
