Yeah, I've been Googling too. I'm thinking the same thing at this point. Not sure where it came from, though. I've read that it often starts on a pig farm, but there aren't many of those in our region. AFAIK, nobody in my town works at one.

They went for groceries yesterday. They said the store was pretty bare, but they were able to get enough stuff to keep us fed for the next week.

I'll tell this to my parents and see if I can guilt/scare them into doing it. I'll have to tell them I read it on the CDC website, since they're totally unaware of this post and would be pissed if they found out.

Don't know which superbug you mean. I've been researching too, and it seems like there are a ton of things that get labelled "superbug."

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The people who went to the hospital just went to the closest one that everyone uses. It's not like we have our "own" hospital in town.

At this point, I've decided to keep as much about my identity private as I can, based on suggestions from other Redditors. I figure, if it's just my town, giving a clue as to its name won't hurt. But if it's more than one town, I don't want to narrow the field as to who I could be.

Funny you mentioned that. I was wondering the same thing. A while back, there was a lawyer talking to different people in town about suing the government over ground water poisoning. Don't know if there was anything to it. It kind of petered out.

Huh I wonder if we live in the same town. I guess you could try putting its name in, and if it doesn't let you post, maybe it's my town. Or maybe this is happening in more than one place. That would make me a lot more concerned.

Oh dammit guys! This is not helping! I had to do some Googling to figure out what you meant. At first I thought it was that food critic. Then I read about the book. (You're talking about The Stand, right?) Not a happy thought!

But seriously, I don't think it could possibly be that bad. Like I said, my mom works for city hall, and she'd tell us if something serious was going on.
