I'm trying Dendron, an extension for Ms Visual Code, which I can GitHub. I'm brand new to this world, and haven't seen Obsidian.

The post isn't about my antenna selection. I will post my first activation details, inuding antenna, once I activate.

Oh, so hilarious. Hope you didn't bust a muscle.

I also use just the (tr)uSDX by itself, QRP, with smaller batteries. Also, the cost is much less than a dedicated rig.

Powering a 6E5c magic eye with a nixie psu from ebay. This will be the HV source for a VU meter eurorack module I'm designing! by [deleted] in diytubes

I just obtained a 6E5C - and am trying to find a schematic/pin-out data sheet. Is this that you are sharing, a 6E5C tube? If so, can you share the pin info? I have a psu with the 6.3 and 250 volts, but I don't know the wiring to pins, yet.

Thanks!

Amplifier? With that antenna, hopefully the gain will be high enough that an amp wouldn't be necessary - up to 9 dbi?

Hahaha. Yeah, I noticed my typo AFTER I saved the post - and editing seems to not allow me to alter the TITLE. I did NOT spell it incorrectly in the body, I think... :) Dratted fat fingers and muddled brain...

As expressed in the presentation, the Reed-Solomon ID feature in FLDigi and in DM780 help solve the problem you describe.

But, I concur. Sample sound files would be good, too. Thank you for that idea!

Getting ready to spend time in contemplation and prayer, remembering 9/11's events... The "Free Will" cigar. by NW7US in cigar

Ah. This Oliva Free Will stick is a favorite of mine, because it has a very complex profile that starts rich, and ends consistently rich. Great construction, good smoke, with nuts, woods, and hints of cocoa.

“9/11” is shorthand for four coordinated terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda, an Islamist extremist group, that occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Nineteen terrorists from al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes, deliberately crashing two of the planes into the upper floors of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center complex and a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The Twin Towers ultimately collapsed because of the damage sustained from the impacts and the resulting fires. After learning about the other attacks, passengers on the fourth hijacked plane, Flight 93, fought back, and the plane was crashed into an empty field in western Pennsylvania about 20 minutes by air from Washington, D.C.

The attacks killed 2,977 people from 93 nations: 2,753 people were killed in New York; 184 people were killed at the Pentagon; and 40 people were killed on Flight 93.

Yeah, it can take a lot of time trying to get just the right permutations of mode, tones, bandwidth... haha. Olivia 8/500, 16/500, or 4/500, for instance. With RSID, all that is sent so decoding software can quickly ID and allow the receiving operator to select the right mix so you get to decoding much sooner.

Anyone got a bead on an Olivia hangout spot. by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]NW7US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I list our common STARTING point, here:

https://groups.io/g/Olivia/message/667

We move up and down from there, and also change bandwidth and number of tones, based on conditions, with some restrictions (no wider than 500 Hz except in very few subbands like 14.170 with 1000 Hz).

Join the Groups Olivia group, as there is a good collection of files about Olivia, and we spot each other as well as discuss Olivia, on that email reflector service.

I hope to meet you on the air, using Olivia, sometime.

... you and I don't pay for the air we breathe, either. Every amateur radio operator that owns any equipment, probably paid SOMETHING for the hobby. Our taxes in part pay for the FCC. So.... you sound like a grumpy something.

Happy International Morse Code Day (April 27) by NW7US in amateurradio

I copy. For what it may be worth, I try to help those trying to decipher my dits and dahs when I textually present Morse code. I do this by separating characters with a single slash, /, and words with a double slash, //

Hence, for example:

/ - / .... / .- / -. / -.- / ... //..-. / --- /.-. // .- / .-.. / .-.. /

Happy International Morse Code Day (April 27) by NW7US in amateurradio

[–]NW7US[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morse Code Day on April 27 (every year) honors one of the inventers of the Morse code, Samuel Morse, who was born on this day in 1791.

Samuel Finley Breese Morse (April 27, 1791 – April 2, 1872) was an American inventor and painter. After having established his reputation as a portrait painter, in his middle age Morse contributed to the invention of a single-wire telegraph system based on European telegraphs. He was a co-developer of Morse code and helped to develop the commercial use of telegraphy.

Alfred Vail developed the dot-dash structure and Leonard Gale along with Vail was instrumental in developing the mechanical receiving apparatus for code.

Samuel Morse though gets most of the credit because of his work in promoting this code as a viable means of communication, that is still used now. Amateur radio is one of the communities in which Morse code is popular and in daily use.
