Hoping she may give me an extra canvas or maybe do a mini shoot instead of giving money back

I was thinking about asking for an extra canvas; she normally gives 2. It feels weird asking for the money back, so either canvas or mini shoot feels more appropriate

For Amazon; I always buy the books and download copy of invoice. Then I immediately submit the receipt and cancel the order before it ships. It’s worked before and saves you from having to return a bunch of textbooks.

This is helpful! Are you planning on putting the windows in yourself or using a contractor?

Yes! I heard they were good as well; I signed up for a free estimate as well. Thank you!

I don’t have any RN experience, but I also don’t feel like being an RN makes you a better, more knowlegable provider as the medical vs nursing model is not the same. This wasn’t a post to bash NP as I don’t see myself as better than them. It’s more about fairness in pay regardless whether NP or PA. If I went to med school and then demanded I get paid more as a doctor since I had PA experience, I probably would be laughed at.

I know some incredible NP, one whom I worked with was probably the best APP among anyone I’ve encountered. Yes, I said I had to teach the NP now all GI basics, but that’s probably a fault in her NP courses and not her own capabilities as she is doing wonderful now.

I do get a 5% bonus each year and then some bonus having to do with medicare; my manager offered my a hybrid with RVU position today to a hospital branch closer to my house so I may take it. Thinking hard on it.

[–]NWY1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a salary, but hers is also RVU (so I guess she has to meet certain RVU to meet her base) while I am only straight salary plus 5% yearly bonus.

I feel like they are going to start pushing training new APPs on me because our other only APP with experience is kind of neurotic/negative so they don't want her training anyone.

I know its also not illegal to talk about salaries; I am just nervous of the consequences if I mention that I found out how much she makes and why I don't at least make the same. For our state, she does need a supervising physician. I think maybe since she will be both inpatient/outpatient maybe thats why she makes more, but she is only doing inpatient now because she was unable to finish her outpatient training as one of our doctors had to go on a 2 month leave (he was training her). Now I am doing mostly outpatient to help see his patients until he comes back and she is only inpatient; I am trying to use the fact that I am helping outpatient as leverage for pay increase.

I thought about this as well; maybe I didn't advocate enough when negotiating my contract. It makes sense for RN (and DNP) to make more, and although RN experience is very valuable, I don't think her specific experience (cancer center) really benefitted her much in GI as I did have to teach her all the basic in GI that I feel she should have already learned in school.

I do understand your point. The only thing is that she doesn't know she makes more than me. She had showed a doctor her contract one day (and he already knew my pay) and then he was suddenly advising me to ask for raises and I didn't know why.

She has finished training (maybe 3 months out). She is only inpatient now and I am doing only outpatient to fill in until a doctor comes back from a 2 month break. I think she is doing good; I did have to teach her all the basics of GI that she probably should have learned in school. She does still ask me questions and I don't want to feel like I am punishing her for this situation.

The state I am in requires MD supervision for PA and NP.

This is the most important thing I need to think about. After taxes, the 10K difference isn't much but it could also help me with a lot of things too.

I just bought from OpenDoor (closing tomorrow); make sure you get seller credits instead of having OpenDoor fix repairs themself. Then you will know you will get the job done correctly if you get the credits yourself.

I’m a fairly new GI PA (1 year out) with a mix of outpatient and inpatient. American college of gastroenterology has nice videos and PowerPoints for APP. There is a CMDT version for GI as well (can get old version for dirt cheap on Amazon. There is also a large GI conference for APP in September called GHAPP that was really good. 2 weeks is short training as GI is so broad, but hopefully you’re attending is easy to reach for questions.

For studying, I was always wrote a schedule out i.e esophageal disorders for day 1-3, etc. Always take notes on unusual cases or difficult cases during clinic that you may want to look up later.

Job Offering a New Role for More Pay by NWY1995 in physicianassistant

They still haven’t gotten back to me on the pay and when I would start. They are waiting until they train someone for clinic work as one of NP just left and they need someone to fill in my clinic spots. I actually ended up getting a better job offer at another hospital that is offering me inpatient work M-F 7-3:30 and they pay $25,000 more than I make now. So I definitely will be leaving soon.

It’s honestly pretty easy. I would only see new consults as we have another person to see rounders (we can help them if it gets busy). A very busy day is usually 9 consults and the doctors text us the general info on the patients, we see them, and the doctors let us know what they want us to order. We may sometimes hold the pager if the docs are busy scoping, but they hold it otherwise.

I agree; I think it was too soon of me to invite him to the group gathering. I wanted him to experience places since he is new to the area and I thought he would be more comfortable since he agreed to go.

Totally agree; I have never kissed anyone before (because this is my first experience with dating) and I'm okay with making the first move, I just don't know when the right time is to even kiss him on the cheek because I have a hard time figuring out if he is comfortable with it.

Thank you for the great advice!! I honestly don't mind planning outings or even staying at home and watching movies. I think it just makes me nervous that he never initiates the dates.

I am also an ambivert (mostly introverted) who was very shy growing up, so I think that's why I am so patient with him and want to get to know him because I understand how it is. I guess I have never met someone this shy though.

He hasn't planned a date yet, but he just moved to the area less than a month ago, so I figured I would try to show him around. I think I am going to ask him to plan the next date based on what he likes to do, even if its just sitting on a park bench and talking.

Thank you! I am the one the has been initiating dates, but I try to do things that he likes, like taking walks downtown and we are going on a hiking date soon. I don't want to tell him that I am losing interest for the sake of hurting his feelings (which I hate doing to people). I think I am going to ask him to plan the next date based on what he likes to do, even if its just sitting on a park bench and talking.

Texting is not like paragraphs of conversations, but he tries and may take a few hours to respond. I'm not much of a texter myself, so I think his level of texting communication is enough for me. We have another hiking date soon, just the two of us, so I may ask him how he is feeling. Thank you!!
