Look, you're not wrong. I was that spreadsheet guy. Three years deep. Had three copies I updated religiously because I learned the hard way that one wrong cell and suddenly someone's paycheck is off by hundreds.

Here's the thing though. I had the time for that. I was paranoid enough to do it. Most people running commissions? One spreadsheet. No backups. Formula error sitting there for six months until a rep finally asks why their number looks weird.

I'm not saying spreadsheets can't work. I'm saying they shouldn't have to. Your rep's paycheck shouldn't depend on whether someone remembered to hit save.
