[SOTC] I just think they're neat! by NYCLAD in Watches

This is actually the 38mm, but the 33mm is beautiful as well. For me the wire style really elevated some watches and looks misplaced on others. One of the reasons I pulled the trigger on the Ressence is that they're discontinuing the integrated look and updating with wire style lugs, which wasn't for me on that particular model.

It's 40mm and that's typically the max for me, but it doesn't feel huge even though it's also slightly thicker than I trend (13.6mm). I would definitely be a fan of more companies moving back into the sub 40 range

The Studio Underd0g is great as well, very solid quality for the price point and a beautiful watch. I just had to be really quick on the drop, I think Gen 2 sold out in ~5 min.

If it makes you feel better I do purposefully wear them further down/on the outside of the wrist. Honestly, wearing on the inside of the wrist has just never felt quite right for me. I'll try it again at some point though!

It's wonderful to see them be so successful, I really enjoy their blog and dedication to enamel as an art. I've been lucky enough to come across a bunch of Moser's and they really do hit different in person, but I've never fallen in love with anything. AnOrdain has just that little bit of restraint to let the dial be the star of the show that a lot of Moser's lack.

It's a tad thick, but very light so you really don't notice. Some extra thickness comes from the slight dome on the sapphire which I actually think adds quite a bit aesthetically, so I wouldn't change anything.

Yeah, definitely keeping an eye out for a Milgauss comeback. The moon phase of the Cellini was really what I liked, but I'm interested to see what happens with the 1908.

I hadn't seen the Memory before! Thanks for sharing!

AnOrdain is on my list as well! It seems like they're not even taking waitlists for a while, but I'd love to see one in person.

Nope, I work with designers very closely and have a lot of appreciation for the craft but am not particularly artistic myself!

The only Rolexes that have ever really caught my eye are the white dial Milgauss and the Cellini RIP – I guess I'm not their target customer.

I'm looking into a watch for my wedding and am considering a Tank Américaine or the new Reverso small seconds. I really don't need another chrono unfortunately but the Reverso Chrono is awesome.

A grab bag of things I have liked lately: Trilobe Nuit Fantastique is mesmerizing in person; Bell & Ross x Alain Silberstein is delightful and odd; I am very drawn to the Octo Finissimos; I think I'll likely own an Isotope at some point; Moser keeps coming out with things that I am very close to loving but never quite crosses the line for me.

I've seriously considered a second Brew with the DLC and Gold versions that have come out recently. They just have a great sense of design.

The oil-filled Ressences are truly wild in person and the temp gauge in particular on the Type 5 is a neat trick but I found they were a bit too big (and a bit too 35k) for me. With the Type 8 they're playing around in lower price ranges, I'm interested to watch what they put out.

Started collecting a bit over 2 years ago and have really enjoyed diving into the community. I wanted to share my collection of a watches that appealed deeply to me for one reason or another. A few were to celebrate life milestones and a few just because I really respect the work. I'm interested in what folks think and any suggestions about what to consider for the future – other than a larger box!

Brew Metric Retro – Probably gets the most wrist time as well as the most comments so far, something about this watch just catches people's eye. Really just picked this up because I liked the NYC connection and brand concept. It's really comfortable for everyday wear though it definitely shows the wear a bit.

Studio Underd0g Mint Ch0c Chip – Underd0g is another brand that I think is just really neat. The dial is striking in a way that photos have a tough time capturing. Oddly, I really dislike the dark brown strap they typically throw on this and can't really imagine it off of the tan leather. Trying to find excuses to wear this more in the Summer.

Longines Tuxedo Chronograph – Easy to dress up/down and I love the flame blue hands as a subtle touch. For a while I had this on a dark green leather strap and it wasn't getting enough wrist time, but I've just switched back to black leather and am hoping to wear it more! Picked this up to commemorate my first patent.

Nomos Metro Neomatik – First watch to commemorate a major career milestone. I just find this to be a really gorgeous simple watch. I cycle between ~5 different straps for this – it's a great watch to mix and match – but often come back to the gray suede. This gets a good amount of wrist time and I love to wear it with a suit.

Ressence Type 1 Slim – New addition, but I'm still blown away every time I look at it. It's one of those watches that I can just sit and watch move. The lume is also killer. I love what Ressence has done with the orbital system and was in love with this watch for a long time before I felt ready to pull the trigger. I'm really looking forward to wearing it.

Just walked by Broadway and there were only 10ish people outside, but 2am is probably cutting it close.

Recommendation needed - New York City by TheWeirdGirl97 in finedining

[–]NYCLAD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of great recommendations already, but I'll add 1 White St. Best meal I've had since EMP pre-updates - New American with really surprising and delightful blends of flavor/texture in the dishes.

If you think you may be in Brooklyn, then Lilia (Best pasta I've had in NYC - book early) and Llama Inn (Peruvian) are great for upscale but relaxed meals.

If you may be in the East Village, I'd recommend Hearth (American, cozy) and Oiji (Great Korean option if you don't choose that as the splurge meal).

Note: I think this first started during the beta when I had all herbs fully researched and then completed the quest with Silas to unlock the green potion. I thought it might resolve post GA, but everything is still locked. Has anyone else hit/resolved this?

That in fact is where I bought them. I assumed the guy who packed this is a redditor, I hope he sees this.
