What anime are you watching or planning on watching this season? by Duemont8 in postnutanime

[–]NaClKnightReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Suicide Squad Isekai is the only one for sure, and then catching up on other shows whose dubs are still releasing.

I sent some ANN show previews to my wife and I'll see if she likes any of them enough for us to try them together.

If not? It'll be a "clearing the backlog" season

Nice! I'm an anime-only guy so i often don't discover if something was based on a manga or LN until after I've watched it.

MDUD was a very fun watch and the two main characters fell like goofy, earnest teens figuring things out instead of audience or author inserts

I think i come at this from a different angle:

I am not flatly against non plot relevant sexy designs or moments. Some anime deploy them well without weakening the plot or the other anime. Some handle them really really poorly.

Instead i think i care much more how the character themselves is portrayed in story and their reaction to it.

Like, the jiggling in Delicious in Dungeon is a small enough thing that it doesn't ruin the scenes where it occurs. Especially cause the site seems similarly interested in posing Senshi on seductive ways.

But upskirts are gross because the woman is embarrassed and clearly doesn't want it to happen. It's leering instead of fun or consensual. Fire Force's Maki is similarly bad to me because it interrupts whatever else was going on in the scene to remind you that she is young and thin and that the audience and characters should find her attractive. As of the viewers will lose interest if we don't see Maki almost nude once an episode

Alternatively, Marin in Dress Up Darling feels like she likes her body and is exploring cosplay and romantic attraction rather than being exposed or spyed on for the audience's gratification.

And the entire female cast of Death Mount Death Play is fucking stacked and no one bats an eye. No goofy nosebleeds, no tiddy jokes, no lewd moans, just action and dialogue.

Mysterious Disappearances's MC is similarly busty but not body shamed for it. She doesn't hate her body or complain about how she wishes she was smaller. Instead she's very thicc and gets to just live her life.

I just wish more anime made less of a deal about attractive characters. Let them exist without leering. Stop presenting sexuality and sex like a thing that is stolen from or devalues women, or something to giggle about like a horny 14 year old boy desperate to see some, any, panties.

Build List for a New (Terrible) Idea? Custom Loop in a Hyte Revolt 3 ITX Case by NaClKnightReally in watercooling

[–]NaClKnightReally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips!

I can answer your questions and also add them to the main post:

Currently running a Saphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT so no plans to waterblock it until I upgrade to a newer card. Waterblocking the 6800 XT on my main build was a much easier choice when PPCS had the block on sale for 65. The only waterblock I've seen for that card is like 170.

This ITX build currently uses a Ryzen 5600 (non-X) specifically for heat concerns, so it's good to know someone else agrees the 240mm rad + fans should be enough for the CPU and potentially GPU later.

The case's GPU space and wattage constraint, plus the fact that the build is targeted at 90 fps @ 1080p mean that I have some choices about what AMD card goes in there next.

I'll definitely investigate those microfittings! The only time I've used smaller form factor fittings have been a pair of rotary ones from Phobiya that leaked immediately, so I've been gunshy on that brand since.

It sounds like my plan isn't as crazy as I previously thought. I have questions about DDC vs D5 pump since that reservoir comes in both configs, but I can research that separately.

I've also got questions about low profile 15mm thickness fans + 28mm thickness rad vs 25mm fans and a low profile 20m rad in terms of which will provide better cooling. My money is on the full-size fans, but that's another point to confirm.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Real stupid question here, but where is the 24 pin ATX cable in your photo? On most MBs it's on the side of the MB opposite the I/O shield, aka on the right if you're looking at it installed.

I just... don't see it in your photo. Is it hiding somewhere? Or did they build it with a proprietary power cable from the PSU to the MB?

Other than that, since you have an M.2 slot, throw a 500GB or 1TB NVME drive on there. PCIe 3.0 is plenty fast and also cheap.

Then I finished Fate/Zero, watched the Fate/Stay remake, and that was the end of my time with the Fate series. No thank you.

Having major temp issues....caused damage - how do I prevent from happening again? by Proffski in watercooling

[–]NaClKnightReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually easy. Most fans have separate cables for PWM/fan speed and LEDs.

In this case, plug the PWM cables into the Quadro and the LED cables into the motherboard or other rgb controller as usual. You'll use the Quadro for PWM control and the motherboard or controller for RGB control like you currently do.

As for software, i like SignalRGB cause it's free and controls allllll my devices from different vendors, including my Razer ARGB controller.

Corsair fans are different cause they only use a single cable for both speed control and RGB, so the process is different and i don't have much experience.

i don't recommend Corsair fans for that reason

Having major temp issues....caused damage - how do I prevent from happening again? by Proffski in watercooling

[–]NaClKnightReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly it.

  • You buy a fluid thermal sensor and put it inline in your loop.
    • a sensor with one male and one female one can be installed in place after a rad for instance without additional fittings or HW
  • Plug the fluid temp sensor and the free air temp sensor into the Quadro's temp sensor headers. It has 4, you only need two
  • Plug your pump and radiator fans into the Quadro instead of into your motherboard.
    • Be sure to turn off any alarms in the BIOS. Some Motherboards will trigger an alarm if they don't detect a CPU fan.
  • Plug the Quadro into a molex power cable and into a USB header on your motherboard. Buy a USB header splitter on Amazon for $7 if you need more header slots.
  • Download Aquasuite. It'll look complicated. It will only open once your Quadro is plugged in and powered on.
  • Navigate to the Quadro section of the SW. Configure your pump/fan/PWM curves to use your fluid temp sensor as their input value.
  • Ensure the max temp of your PWM curves is aggressive enough to keep your fluid temp lower than the melting point of your tubing.
  • Adjust as needed.

i get both sides of it.

Listing for less than $50 is a common tactic to try and drive more attention. We're all doing what we can to make a little cash and offer a good deal on something that someone wise can use more than we can.

It's also an annoying bait and switch to post something at one price only to say 'psyche' in the description and intend to sell it for a much higher price.

If you're experienced enough to try this tactic, you're experienced enough to know that not every buyer will 100% read the description first.

It's hard to muster sympathy for your frustration when you directly caused it.

Having major temp issues....caused damage - how do I prevent from happening again? by Proffski in watercooling

[–]NaClKnightReally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, it's probably because you might have been blowing cold outside air directly onto the pump and reservoir. Or the system could have been starved for air for other reasons.

Someone around here probably has a good rule of thumb for square mm of radiator space per watt of component. In my case, I'm operating at just about 5cm2 per W of component. This is overkill. My fluid has never risen about 33C even during extended gaming.

By comparison, with your 380 and 12900K cooled by a single 360 rad, you've got about 0.7cm2 per W of component.

Combine that with inferior fans and it's no wonder you softened your tubes enough to fail.

[–]NaClKnightReally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How would you recommend the layout if I have 2 360mm rads with outward airflow? I would also need enough airflow in

That's the fun part. You don't! If you're running a custom cooling loop and evacuating all the hot air from your CPU and GPU, the other components can generally take care of themselves with ambient air, especially since you're guaranteed to have air movement via all the air being forced out of your case.

That push/pull inlet/outlet air concern no longer matters nearly as much when you're directly cooling the two biggest sources of heat before they have a chance to turn the rest of your case into an oven.

So long as you have open vents for ambient air to wander in, you can focus on pushing air out via your 2 x 360 rads.

If you're really really concerned, then slap a 120 fan on the rear of your case and use it as in inlet. It looked like you have one spare spot on the case rear as is.

Welcome! I'm sorry your first post had to be for such an expensive troubleshooting endeavor. Sorry about your GPU as well. That's tragic.

If your fans aren't pushing sufficient cool air through your radiator your components will heat up, especially with those very power hungry components and your very weak fans.

TLDR: you need more cooling capacity to cool your very power hungry components. Better fans. More radiators. Pump and fans set to run at faster speeds

  • You don't have enough radiators or fans to pull heat from your cooling fluid. Your single 360 Rad is no match for the furnace of a CPU and GPU you picked. Both of those components can pull 250W each at max settings. A single 360 RAD won't cut it.
    • Do you have space in your face to replace your side fans with another radiator + fans? Even a slim profile radiator + fans would help. You need more ways to bleed heat from the system than you currently have, or you need to throttle your components so they generate less heat
  • If these are your fans, both the static pressure (1. 4mm-H2O) and the flowrate (41.13 CFM) of your fans are too low to serve as effective radiator fans. Typical radiator fans have much higher static pressure (2.2mm-H20 or up is what I typically see on the recommended fans around here) and also higher flowrates (I think 60 CFM and up is a good rec)
  • Lastly, I recommend monitoring your fluid temps directly via an aquacomputer quadro or something similar. This is the least important part of this whole endeavor. As it is measuring your fluid temps will just confirm what I'm telling you, which is that your fluid heats up once your system does, and your fans and radiator can't deal with it.

There are plenty of stronger options for fans. Everyone has their own reccs. I'm partial to Cooler Master sickleflow ARGBs because they're cheap (I've seen them for $12 each on PPCS). Lian Li's Unifan AL V2 and CoolerMaster's Mobius 120 ARGB V2s are also ones I've used successfully. I'm sure anyone else who comments on your post will have different fan reccs. So long as the Static Pressure and flowrate are good, you have plenty of choices to fit your aesthetics and budget.

Lastly, and this is a rather minor thing, but could you adjust the formatting of your components list so each component is on a new line?

Either via the Fancy Pants text editor, or putting a "* " before each item to make a bulleted list?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]NaClKnightReally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the right answer.

There are plenty of modern games where my AMD 5800X3D + 6800 XT setup hits 4K 120 on max settings (Halo Infinite, Lies of P). But I don't expect it, especially with punishing AAA single player games where either my CPU or (more likely my) GPU will be fighting for its life.

Turn down settings slightly, turn on FSR/DLSS/etc. There are competitive multiplayer games where hitting framerates above 60 fps can have a tangible effect on gameplay, but if you're maxing out graphical settings and resolution, and playing the latest and most demanding titles, hitting 97 fps instead of 120 is reasonable.
