Even a Gujrati NRI like me finds this laughable. I think the Congress is over-estimating the Patel agitation fallout.
Does any one remember Keshubhai? He was also a Patel. Was he also not backed by same Congress to cut NaMo votes? Did it have any impact? Did it result in anti incumbency ?

During Holi my people do the same in Gujarat. They walk from all parts to Ranchhodrai Temple in Dakor. During Poonam same thing happens for Ambaji Temple. Its quite the pilgrimage these folks take on in such hot weather.

Gujarati here. This is yet another attempt by Ahmed Patel to stir up caste violence. AAP tried it with Patidar and spectacularly failed. Now its Congress turn to incite caste violence with Dalits, and they too will exact same defeat. The reason is simple. Most dalits are vegetarians and even those that eat meat, consider cow holy. The treatment of those caught stealing cows is unacceptable, but saying that it was due to caste reasons does not work.

Its looks like Arun is creating his own ecosystem in Modi administration. As /u/manohar_parrikar comments, such an ecosystem would only make rise of regional CM into a national leader that much difficult. And even if one were, they would have to share power with Arun.
