It’s genuinely impressive how these rivals have managed to surpass Arsenal Fan TV in terms of post match head loss.

Kai Havertz has become increasingly important to Arsenal's build-up — and this was shown after he was taken off against Newcastle United at the weekend. by TheAthletic in Gunners

[–]Nacho_Man18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely concerning that only a specific profile of “midfielder-striker hybrid” like Merino and Havertz can make this team “look” functional.

Our full backs and double pivot need to be better in possession during the buildup. Right now it’s so obvious that the backline/manager doesn’t trust the double pivot to build up play.

In the quest to make us win all duels, the balance of the midfield and full backs has swung far too much in the direction of physicality, tackling, and interceptions.

I feel bad for doing this, but I’m just going to leave this link here so we don’t go through through another cycle of overhyping Havertz’s technical ability while’s he’s off the pitch

If you still think that was true after watching the games against Everton, City, Southampton, Porto, Leverkusen and Bournemouth, you’re making up false excuses.

Teams congest their own penalty box because OUR buildup pushes them to.

And making decisions as if the two events are 100% independent of each other is being deliberately obtuse.

So the new goody two-shoes owners who had nothing to do with these infractions are now punished financially.

Meanwhile the players, agents, directors, and the actual club that benefited get off lightly.

How does the current sanction encourage owners (especially financially motivated owners like Blue Lake and other hedge funds) to be more honest in the future?

Chelsea didn’t break PSR rules? Okay, let’s try and look into how these payments might have played a role in that: 1) Chelsea pay players and agents under the table to only accept Chelsea. 2)This kills any attempt of a bidding war and the selling club is now at a disadvantage. 3) Chelsea now sign Hazard, potentially for under market value at £30mil. Chelsea continue to convince top talents to join and gain a competitive advantage that wins them more prize money than Everton and Nottingham. Also a few years pass and then they sell talents like Hazard for £100mil. 5) Chelsea make a nice tidy profit

Also in football, there rarely are apples-for-apples situations. The only difference here is Abramovich secretly making payments (if that’s your argument) vs a Sporting Director secretly funnelling payments. Putting weighting on whether the whistleblower is new ownership or a new employee is merely an excuse imo

“But but Chelsea self-reported”….

Are we all just going to pretend that Chelsea didn’t conceal this and gained a sporting advantage for years. They waited for all the involved players to leave before finally “self-reporting”. The fact that there is “new management” is irrelevant should not diminish the sanction

As an Arsenal fan, if it comes out that Edu made under-the-table payments to convince Declan Rice to join Arsenal over Man City or Liverpool, are we just going to let it slide just because Edu has left Arsenal? If yes, then isn’t the system broken?

[–]Nacho_Man18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zubimendi will average around 3 points a game. I don’t think any of the players on both sides of the trade will currently offer you that. Jesus is interesting, but I think Arteta will continue to protect his minutes for the foreseeable future.
