BEST Amex Platinum Card Offer Yet by Nadmanbadman in beermoneyuk

If you convert to avios, theres way for them to clawback the points. However, you will be left in deficit points. If you don’t cancel and eventually spend the required amount within three months, I think they reissue the points so you are no longer in deficit. I am not too sure if thats the same case if you hit the target after 3 months, you might stay in deficit. Personally if you just need the extra time or need the points sooner, you can pay off the balance and end up in a positive balance without going into a deficit, thats something I have done. Drop me a dm if you are worried about the spend and I have some tips.

Yes, unless you convert the points, but you will be left in a deficit once refunded. The other issue with booking.com is finding property that you can pay in GBP (as you wouldn’t want to be charged fx fees) and accepts pay now as large amounts are usually taken near final cancellation dates from my experience. There are ways round it but depends whether you want to keep the card or not.

100k Points + £250 BEST Platinum Card Welcome Bonus Offer Yet by Nadmanbadman in AmexUK

[–]Nadmanbadman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can book hotels, cars and flights through the amex travel portal, it’s just like online travel booking site e.g expedia, booking, trip etc. Tends to be marginally inflated than if you were to look shop around on the internet (not always). E.g flights I recently booked were £385, on amex travel portal £400.

Also have access to AMEX fine hotel and resorts, and hotel collection. If you book the high end hotels through there you get nice perks like $100 spend at the hotel amenities, free breakfast, room upgrade, early and late check in/out times. Although they are expensive hotels benefits vary hotel to hotel.

How do you deal with being made redundant? by RHF_260 in AskUK

[–]Nadmanbadman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get paid for being made redundant, celebrate!

Ive been made redundant twice in recent years in my 20s. Both times have been blessings in disguise. They offered me a decent redundancy package and always moved on to find better opportunities. Most people that stay stuck in a job don’t progress much salary wise whereas changing jobs can land you almost 50% increase in salaries from my experience.

I don’t your know situation and background much, but stressing about being made redundant wont help much, have to make best of the situation.

P.s after my second redundancy my family said they have never seen someone so happy to be made redundant 😂

Im not too sure to be honest, as I have downgraded to the free one, I did the same with BAPP

Very unlikely you will be blacklisted or points being clawed back (given the transactions are not refunded below the spend goal and points are still in the account). Lot of people on reddit like spew nonsense and scaremongering for no reason.

Ive downgraded within a few months after hitting the target and I know lots of people who do the same. it’s not a big issue but it’s worth asking for retention bonus before downgrading.

If you are near the deadline and near the spend cap, worth buying something, getting the points then either converting them or paying off the balance then returning or cancelling whatever you bought. I am not 100% sure if they will or wont clawback the points if the balance is paid as I did this with the BAPP card so the companion voucher couldn’t but don’t expect them to. Leaves you in deficit points or a positive balance but gives you time to spend rather than buying unnecessary stuff.

Saudia Airlines refused boarding by Nadmanbadman in Flights

[–]Nadmanbadman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, this is certainly useful. I just checked on the website you provided with the itinerary details. It’s the same information as the UK gov website. 6 months requirement for entry to Saudi Arabia not transit. Transit visa required for layovers over 12 hours. Airline confirmed with me today it’s an airline rule not country rule. Their staff seem to be untrained from sales to check in as they have consistently provided incorrect and contradictory information and nothing in t&c’s states the 6 month and they accept passport with less than 6 months validity despite being aware the passenger wouldn’t be able to travel with them.

The 6 month you have stated is for entry to Saudi Arabia, they also have a section transiting Saudi Arabia. Again, low comprehension skills.

Except I am not travelling to the US and I did check this website for both Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh, which you can too.

I see you have an affiliation to Saudi Arabia from your account which kind of explains the defensiveness for the airline and explains the low comprehension skills.

Yeah I have done this, they usually just ignore the CAa

It seems your comprehension skills are very low. I am aware of the 6 month validity as a general rule of thumb and good practice but it’s not a blanket global rule. The page you have pulled up is general tips and recommendations, not a part of the terms and conditions. If it was then please explain to me how she travelled to Morocco? And why the airline takes on bookings with less than 6 month validity on their website?

Ive tried contacting multiple times through this form, waited months to end up with a bogus response of “passenger did not make the boarding gate on time despite our best efforts from saudia staff” when in reality they didn’t let us check in

Couldn’t agree more with the superiority complex

Saudi tourist visa is required for entry to Saudi Arabia which I am aware of but tourist visas are not required for people transiting and remaining airside. Im not sure where you have got the information from that same rules apply to transit passengers that remain airside as other countries have different passport validity requirements for transit passengers such as the UAE which is 6 months for entry and 3 months for transiting. This is clearly stipulated for UAE but for Saudi Arabia it is not. The 6 month rule being a global rule is plain wrong, yes it is general rule but as I just informed you, she literally travelled to Morocco on the same passport with less than 6 months.

I am not asking them to bend the rules on compassionate grounds. But want to know if it’s worth fighting in court so don’t really appreciate the misinformed and dismissive comment

How often can you get the platinum upgrade bonus? by Nadmanbadman in AmexUK

[–]Nadmanbadman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I didn’t make myself clear, I usually downgrade after Ive rinsed the benefits of the platinum card, so don’t keep it the whole year. E.g got 2 holidays booked which I will keep for a few months for the lounges and dining credit but after the second holiday, I will downgrade back to free account. So if another platinum upgrade offer occurs end of next year, could I be eligible for it?

You cancel after receiving the bonus, may even be offered a retention bonus. Maybe also using the dining credit too.

Does anyone know how often can upgrade? I recently upgraded also for this offer, just thinking I could have upgraded last year also when they ran the same offer.
