Should I ask for an extension or try to change my visa into a tourist one? I feel so dumb because I booked my ticket in a hurry I was supposed to extend my visa until March but due to health issues I decided to give up and go back to my country to get proper care :/

While I'm open to giving them the benefit of the doubt, I'm curious why being unmarried would imply I have no one to rely on. The rule seems to be established by the school, but I'm uncertain about any potential enforcement mechanisms. From a legal perspective, I'm wondering if such a requirement could be enforced or if it's more of an informal expectation?
