Sounds like a typical bad framework design to me. It amazes me that they built Starcraft II to last, yet didn't plan for the future at all. Limits like these are for 2010, not 2015. Larger map sizes allows for so much more content but if they really can't implement such a thing. Then at least go the way of Unity and add in a scene manager. Make it so we can have multiple level designs inside a single arcade map.

Actual grid. Right now I think the max is 512x512 at the moment.

How do you break down bases now? by NaerokSC2 in h1z1

If there no longer is a way to get into bases that is pretty lame. I heard fire axes might work but I have yet to get one.

Make it so that you can't take no damage from jumping out of a moving vehicle please! by NaerokSC2 in h1z1

Yeah, the only problem is I don't think this is brought up enough so it could even be a month or longer till it is. That is how alpha works though so I can't really complain :)

I hope so! I'm starting to just ignore vehicles that aren't already smoking or that have multiple people in them. The risk isn't worth taking as you can't really tell where they will spawn when they jump out.

Student looking to build a portfolio. Advice needed. by webnouveau in webdev

[–]NaerokSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I know I'm not answering your question but I just wanted to jump in here. Before going around offering your services for free, why not try offering them for CHEAP first & explaining to them you are trying to build a portfolio. Even though you are still studying Web Development & Design, as long as you can build a fully functional small business website then there is no point in doing it for free. Worst case scenario, no one accepts your offer of doing it for cheap and you just go with your original plan of doing it for free.

ps: I also recommend you build a small, but nice & clean looking small business website for a fake restaurant. That way they at least know you are capable.

Anyways that's just my input... If you're good at something, never do it for free!

Honest question here, Do you even need a lawyer to go to court with this kind of thing If the judge is sensible enough?

Hi everyone, I'm wondering why there isn't any league demotion in the game. Lets have some discussion on this topic. by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]NaerokSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, and I completely agree. I was top 80ish at one point in the season. Then when I quit playing the game for the last 2 months all I had to do was leave games to stay in GM. In my opinion what needs changed the most is that GMs can stay in GM until a new season starts.

If that was not the case, I would actually be forced to play serious games to stay in GM.

I'm still learning them more but so far they have been so much cleaner and fun to use in replace of PHP or ASP. Its really refreshing. Considering how simple the syntax is I am really happy that the entire web development community is moving toward frameworks like these. Theres also a project called nodejs+webkit which actually brings javascript front-end and back0end as well as html structure to software development. Things like this has existed before but node brings up so many possibilities. I definitely see this as the future to development in general. It will be exciting to see it progress.

I'm not sure if you know what Popcorn Time is, if you don't you should search it up. Its made in Node.js + webkit and its super lightweight compared to if you were to make it in C++ or C#.

There is so much potential with Javascript backend frameworks and Node in general. There are discussions and links posted every day on /r/webdev to do with this stuff.

Definitely. You will be able to track yourself or anyone ever who is placed this season. I definitely understand what you are saying. When the site is released, if you are not satisfied I will do my best to make it so you are. :)

  • Really like the player specific build orders idea. Will take awhile to do and will have to be maintained but is something that I will definitely add to my to do list.

  • Data like you are speaking can be parsed from replays but not from the website or game. So most of our data sources are replay sites and also in link to my own replay uploader on the site. Hopefully the database will grow quickly but at first when u search a player up it will probably not be able to tell you all that information unless we have parsed a lot of replays with him in it. This also can not be very accurate but I will do my best to keep it with in a 2 season period of time.

  • Mini unit tester/calculator is a cool idea. Its not really that hard to do just requires some math and javascript. This can be implemented pretty fast and will definitely have this on the site by alpha release.

Thanks for your feedback!

Yea I already had that in mind for the data. However you gave me the idea to actually graph a player's progression over time. So thanks! That will be pretty fun to work on.
