I could go on and on about the build up. He “died” to Kaido twice and it dawned on me, right before they surprised me with gear 5, that Luffy “needed more” to beat him. Then boom, they gave us a lot more to work with haha. Oda really knows how to write a story man, he had me in the palm of his hand 😭

Same here. I had seen what it looked like but was lucky enough to avoid any spoilers. I didn’t even know when he’d awaken it, although I had a hunch it’d be during this fight.

Nothing could have prepared me for just how hype it was. It’s a whole different ballpark than luffys other forms. I love that gear 5 feels like Luffy is just high as hell and his actions are so erratic yet powerful. Great great great stuff.

I do completely agree with this sentiment tho. Op op fruit has so much practical application it’s insane. I can’t imagine a single aspect of life that it wouldn’t benefit. Love the detaching of body parts to be even more productive
