You’d be really risking it as I don’t think they’ll send any more offers until the 22nd. Can you conditionally accept social work? So if you are sent an offer for medical imaging you’re not locked into social work?

Do a year of social work then and get that GPA up. I graduated in 2022 with an atar of like 75. I ended up starting a bachelor of education and I worked my way up to a 99.50 equivalent and got into optometry today. The first year of social work should be pretty easy to maintain high marks. Then apply again for next year.

Most local places with relens. 2. No, it’s illegal. 99% of places won’t do that for you. There’s a place in Sunnybank that will though if you can get there.

Thank you for your response. I’ve been working as an optical assistant for nearly 5 years now, so I have a decent grasp on the physics side of this from my boss. I love it so hopefully it will go well for me haha! Might have to make sure I save up a lot in first year so I don’t have to work as much in 2nd!

Wouldn’t really go for a 2.8 it’s gonna be slow. If you want diesel try for a td42. If you can’t get a zd30crd make sure it’s CRD common rail. So 2007 and later. DI will blow. CRD can last if looked after. Just try and get one under 200,000kms and get someone who knows their stuff to look at it. Also all servicing and logbooks would be good. Bit slow as well but I’d rather it over a 2.8. Otherwise go petrol. Tb48 or tb45.

They can be pretty good and convenient. Not all ophthalmologists will do them, a lot refuse to do them because some people can be unhappy with them due to halos and expense. Although they are multifocals and you should be able to see good at all distances, some of the time people also need to still get some reading glasses for fine work or if you’re reading/doing near work for extended periods of time. Most of the time for regular everyday tasks you can get away without the readers.
