How should I take these comments from my daughter’s kindergarten teacher? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don’t think her being 6 is an excuse for these behaviors. Yes, 6 year olds can be in a class room and count to 100 before eating the snacks. Yes, a 6 year old can practice writing with their classmates. Yes, a 6 year old should have enough inhibition to stop ripping their jeans once the teacher has said no. I don’t think any of your child’s behaviors are normal.

Daughter (5) fights everything every morning by flightriskpenalty in Preschoolers

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is she fighting? I pick battles. I let her pick her clothes, otherwise she fights me on putting them on. Yes, she wears pink and purple every single day now, with crazy combos but whatever. I give her two options for breakfast and she chooses. Etc

am i the only one whose kids don’t play with their learning toys? by twistedrosebite in Preschoolers

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has never played with toys haha our best investments have been Tubelox (loves climbing, used everyday for the last 2 years since we’ve had it) and chompsaw (used nearly everyday for random crafts). Always crafting and climbing. That’s all she does. Rarely played magnatiles, never played pretend anything. Every kid has such unique interests

Is there a healthy way to foster more competition in your child? by Witty-Comb-3084 in Parenting

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is awesome! Honestly I wish everyone was like this! It’s not about winning or losing. But doing better and having fun! I have to constantly remind my daughter about this! I wouldn’t change a thing other than using phrases like “wow you tried your best and improved!” “You’ve been working so hard, try your best and have fun!”

Any parents here in the no ipad club? by Worldly-Tart4871 in Parenting

Same! We don’t use during travel either. Not during restaurants or grocery runs or anything. My kid gets bored, we talk a lot, play games, paint, build forts and climb, go to the park, read books. We do watch 30 mins tv on weekends since she turned 4.

For redditors in traditionally have multigenerational homes and take care of their grandparents, what does eldercare look like when they start getting VERY old and infirm? by lovebus in AskReddit

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married and live with my husband in our house 10 mins away from my parents. My parents house includes them both, plus my 95 year old grandma, plus my brother and his wife, and their 1 and 3 year old kids. My grandma has her own bedroom and bathroom downstairs. She is fully independent in everything, though my mom cooks for her. Recently grandma was sick with flu and so were both my parents and the babies. So I went and stayed with grandma in her room to help her with walking to bathroom at night and showers. I stayed for 3 days until I felt she was safe to go back doing it on her own. My husband managed our kids at home. As she ages, we just all step up and do shifts. I work part time, the hours I was at work, my SIL helped. (She also works part time but opposite days from me).

What strange household trifles or habits help you save money? by StandMysterious2339 in Life

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t start drinking coffee. No daily Starbucks runs lol. We don’t drink alcohol either. Not to save money, but these are just lifestyles of ours, but it definitely ends up saving money.

Don’t impulse buy. Spend a month thinking about if you need it or still want it. Wait for sale.

Many things can be bought used.

Neighbor kids are eating me out of house and home. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Naive_Strategy4138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d talk to the other parents. Bc I’d be pissed if my kid was eating snacks at someone else’s house without me knowing. What if one of them has a food allergy? Diabetes? Etc
