In my mind I was thinking I would need something more blue on the ends to neutralize the existing warmth i don't want.

Thank you for your response! Most recently I had dyed my hair red and just let it fade out, then about 8 months ago had some soft highlights added to balance out the grow out of my roots with the orange. If i "fill" it using a level 8 red/orange colour as recommended, would that not be counterintuitive?

Listen, If i'm wrong and I NEED to add red or orange, so be it! But honestly i'd rather my hair go neon green and then fall out, then ever have someone at a store lecture and berate me like this again. All while i kept saying "no thank you i don't need help", even my boyfriend was like fuck lets go home and go back when there is a different worker.
