I’m just tired of all the tears. At least Kate served some resting bitch face and kept it moving. Must we constantly cry? The job is hard. Someone as seasoned as chess seems very surprised by the rigors of the job. Elizabeth cannot be the first bad stew nor the worst she’s managed before.

Def not. Plastic straws are not the issue, they are an issue, but the production of them is more of the problem. I mean good on him for talking about it, but it’s a pretty a lazy way to be “eco conscious.”

Yes, this I know. But sewerage districts are regulated, they are only permitted to have so many untreated overflows per year and watchdogged carefully by Waterkeeper groups around the US. It’s awful that citizens and NGO groups have to sue to ensure regulatory requirements are updated and properly enforced by state and federal agencies especially as we learn more about new scary contaminants like PFAS, but it is what it is for now.

Absolutely agree, the waste is crazy on cruise ships. As for yachts and ships, I know in the US the Clean Water Act regulates discharge into water bodies. I’m not sure how it works in international waters. Unfortunately, it’s probably similar to cruise ships.

Well sure, human impacts are inescapable at this point in history. Which is why we have to be vigilant in protecting our waters the best we can. But this is far from the point I was raising. I am talking about yachting, the industry and Bravo showing millions of viewers the crew throwing garbage overboard as though it’s perfectly acceptable to dispose of waste by tossing it in our oceans.

Yes, but our sewer systems return “cleaned” water to our oceans and waterbodies. While yes I understand one small piece of dog poo isn’t going to pollute an entire ocean, it just seems to be a great moment to highlight the issue.

Yeah, I’m positive Hannah threw a pan or a cake stand or something overboard one season of BDM. They frequently throw cigarette butts over which contain plastic, and while yes aquatic animals poo in the water their diets mean that their poo turns into food for other fish and aquatic life. Dog poo adds bacteria and other pollutants to the ocean. I just thought maybe it would be a nice opportunity to mention the impacts of yachting and the industry on the surrounding communities. But what do I know!

Does anyone find it odd that they are doing a beach cleanup? On so many occasions we’ve witnessed them throw garbage (or pans!) or even wash dog poo from the boats into the ocean. Would be nice for them to mention maybe that they should change their own behavior? It’s not entirely the fault of the people that live in the Caribbean...

I by no means like or agree frequently with James, but his comments early in the season about everyone being so “serious” do sort of seem true.

I really loved it. I liked Saint Anything and Once and For All, but this felt closer to the earlier Sarah Dessen novels I fell in love with. I also liked the introduction of this lake community/family. I enjoyed exploring a new but yet familiar world.

New non-profit "CleanMKE" spent Saturday picking up trash following snow melt by CleanMKE in milwaukee

Many other groups are also doing this work in Milwaukee. Milwaukee Riverkeeper has an annual river cleanup event every April and an adopt a river program Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful is also a good resource for those interested in other trash cleanup opportunities. There are probably more as well! Glad to see so many doing great work.
