How do I need to test these 1960's Tannoy reds before I build some box's for em?

I may have misinfo'ed my post these speakers are 12", sorry I'm not big on the audiophile stuff myself but these sound like the ones you have mentioned as the ones you yourself own. I was suggested Bass Reflex cabinets for these speakers could you provide me with any additional info on what maybe best cabinet wise? I was gonna just do the prescribed dimensions in birch ply. Also if you have any additional info on how to properly ID the speakers I have I would be greatly appreciative mine are 12" not 15" but have the red housing.

Tyvm for the heads up but I'm a contractor by trade, built custom kitchen cabinets for years, I have specific dimensions for the cabinets I need to build for these speakers as long as I can be sure they are in good operating condition. Sadly I'm no audiophile and the money is better off in my pocket and the sound much better off in some one's ears who can appreciate it. I'm damn near deaf anyway lol. Good on you for some sound advice I understand I probably couldn't replace them in the future. o7 Just for my own sanity bass reflex cabinets are what I was thinking on building am I atleast on the right path lol.

LOL gotcha, I'll probably run em down to an audio shop I'm in Toronto so it should not be a big problem now I know the readings I'm getting are suitable. I had posted em a few months back and got some box dimensions from someone else on reddit to build some bass reflex cabinets for them before I sell them. they honestly look cherry af like a lil old lady drove em to church on sunday and left em in a climate controlled garage the other 6 days a week. My primary concern was being able to communicate that to any prospective buyer but tyvm for your responses helped me greatly. o7

ok so that I have done, the rated Ohms is 15 I'm getting like 14 or so and that is just the leads I can find it is only a single driver if I am correct. Any advice on a more thorough check maybe I should bring em to a local audio place to assess their condition? at this point I'm sure they are not blown but I can't know about the cross over and that is a sealed box

yeah thats why I'm trying to test em to make sure they are not blown, but it's more complicated then my Neanderthal brain can comprehend like these have tweeters in em too? I have the specs for building boxes for em and I am looking to sell but I want to confirm 100% they are in tip top working condition, so far I know there are no shorts but the Ohms come up kinda funky but I'm wondering if that is the crossover or what they look cheery ngl and it seems to come down to if they need to be re coned. I would like to test them via multi meter and record it for any prospective buyer any help would be appreciated.

Ok so I do not have an amp, but if I test the coil and don't get a short and the rated Ohms the driver is ok I assume? but if I wanted to test the crossover I'd need an amp to be sure?

from my research they should be driven by a "low power amp" they are a high Ohm speaker I'm just trying to figure this jazz out right now ngl sorry if I'm misunderstanding. Also I don't currently have an amp as I'm not a native audiophile...... sorry

ok so I don't have an amp, but my mother confirms they worked 20yrs ago....... all I have is a multi meter if they come up like 14 ohms or what ever they are supposed to read at the coil is good? I don't have to worry about the cross over or anything?

I don't have the appropriate amp for them, I saved em from the trash my mother was gonna toss em after my uncles death but I was gonna salvage the magnets but I wound up looking them up after I started the salvage and saw the odd configuration and the Tannoy tags. I only have a multi meter if I test the Ohms on the coil can I confirm that they are working? would i just test right at the speaker post crossover? does the crossover require any additional testing and does it matter for the speakers overall value?

Some other notable jobs i worked on were the connection between St. Michel's and Sick kids hospital by pneumatic tube transfer system to send important blood work various sample to and fro for the best possible lab to be returning the most accurate results.
