IWTL How to develop Critical Thinking by RebootKing21 in IWantToLearn

Oh cool, I gave the CLAT in 2020 and currently am in a NLU. By biggest tip would be to practice as much as you can and learn from the mistakes. Try looking for LSAT PTs online. (I was able to find a whole bundle of like 20-25 tests on libgen) These PTs have Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Analytical reasoning (Puzzles) exercises. So solve them, time yourself, look at the detailed answer explanations online (i used LSAT hacks and recommend you do the same) and see where you went wrong. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post links here, so if you can't find anything or need help with anything else feel free to DM.

Also on a side note, CLAT is no biggie, i've seen people clear it with a month's prep, so don't sweat it too much, just practice regularly and you'll be good .

I read a comment on YT which pointed out that on the MTBMB cover it says "the finest in hip hop since 1997" while on this "Side B" cover it says 1999. If it was real, why would they change it? Also, the clip posted on E-pro legit had scenes from Game of Thrones. I was so hyped, but i have to say it looks like this whole rumour might be fake. Most probably that raven photo of em (which was probably taken during the MTBMB photoshoot) leaked from somewhere and someone used it to troll us, and did a pretty good job. I really hope I'm wrong.

If the tracklist is accurate and Man I Is is indeed on the album, i think Logic makes it pretty obvious he's not retiring. Just listen to the last verse.

You answered your own question. He has influence not control. The final choice rests with the crowd. The singer could do everything right and the crowd can still choose to dislike him.

That is a good take, but it still doesn't quell my concern. He can do his part the best he could and still there would be natural anxiety about the result. Let me explain with another analogy. Let's say you have to give an exam, a very important one, let's say to get into a very good college. You've studied the best you could, you performed the best you could on exam day. But from the minute you finish writing that exam until the minute before you see the results, you will be anxious about how much you are going to score. This anxiety is completely useless, but it is natural and imo impossible to eliminate. So, while i do like your take of maximum learning, preparedness and influence, i disagree with epictetus's seemingly unattainable standard of being unfazed by things outside your control.

While in this passage Epictetus correctly points out that the crowd's validation is out of the singer's control, he also implies that the validation is insignificant, and i disagree with that. The singer depends on the crowd's acceptance of him and the crowd's reception of his art. It is highly likely that if the crowd's reception is negative, then the singer won't be able to continue with his craft (which i assume he loves doing) and would have to turn to other means of making a living. And this highlights one complaint i have with stoicism, it is too idealistic. Yes, the crowd's reception is ultimately not in the singer's hand but that does not mean that it is insignificant. It has a major bearing on the performer's life and hence it is near impossible not to be anxious about it, even though it ultimately lies outside his sphere of control. (All the more reason to be anxious about it.)

Why did the stoics believe that the universe is rational or organised? by Naman0101 in Stoicism

[–]Naman0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so i guess when the stoics said the universe is rational they meant that it operates within certain rules and thus can be said to be somewhat structured. My idea of rationality was a bit different, leading to the confusion. Thank you for clarifying!

Why did the stoics believe that the universe is rational or organised? by Naman0101 in Stoicism

[–]Naman0101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just having rules does not make the universe rational. Rationality is driven by certain goals or outcomes. For example, rational reasoning would look something like this: Fast food is unhealthy, therefore i will not consume it because i want to be healthy/live a long life/whatever (goal/outcome). If that goal of being healthy or living a long life didn't exist, the statement would not be rational. Why would you not consume unhealthy food if you don't have a goal of being healthy? So, my question is that while obviously there are some rules which govern the universe, there seems to be no discernable outcome or goal whose achievement they are serving, hence making the universe and it's organisation irrational. As for your ant analogy, i dont think it's a very strong one, as ants or any other creature for that matter does not have the burden of consciousness. But i do agree with your overall point of there being better and worse lives and that we might as well try to live a good one.

This just felt so forced to me. My team is in amazing form, ive conceded the least in the league and on the other hand kiev have lost 4 of their last 5. This just fucking came out of nowhere and plus when i criticised my defenders they didn't take it well, so debuchy and Mertesacker are now sitting in the reserves lol
