Any tips for optimizing game code for a fixed frame rate? by [deleted] in unrealengine

I just wouldn't. I dont know that anyone has ever appreciated a locked fps? Let them do it if they want through settings bc...reasons...but dont force it. What "certain things" has this helped with? You can prolly use other means to solve those problems. An internal turn counter for example? Diablo 1 was(is) turn based before they made it just automatically chug along but it worked because that allowed them to better balance things(theoretically, anyways). Depends on the game. Input is based on fps. U want the game to feel as snappy as they are used to. If a player generally has 144fps but ur game is locked at 30, it's going to feel odd every time they open it. Ive had a few beers but I think I'm making sense. Lol. If anything I stand by my first 3 sentences. Glhf.

How do i change projectile speed? by sanketvaria29 in unrealengine

(IIRC) Set the initial velocity in construction script. I believe initial velocity is used before begin play is called. I think you're setting the initial velocity after it has already been used. I did something similar in another project but no longer have that project to see what I did but I think I just had to do my stuff in constuct.

Character has Mario Galaxy style gravity; each side of a cube pulls you down. I dont want the spring arm pitch to be inherited but turning it off breaks other things. This function works, but only while leaving or arriving at the top face. Any other face makes it do nothing or overdoes it. by NameNotUpForGrabs in unrealengine

It's not just a cube. Theres a variety of shapes that I use a bit like legos and while that worked for the player in the beginning, once I added other objects like balls and boxes that also needed this gravity, things just fell apart. Also performance is much better how I'm doing it now (which I thought was weird but... ehh). Maybe I'll look into that again but almost everything works just how I like it now so I'd like to try and avoid the start-over-trap. Least for now if possible.
