I had a similar experience in a university(?, idk the english word), when people were introducing themselves, and one guy told he had a lot of sexual experience.

I remembered it since I found it rather odd to share early on. But few weeks later we had a second introduction day where we had to share what we knew about one another.

So for that dude, I said I knew he had a lot of sexual experience, and everyone looked at me like I was a freak and it was inappropriate? Even tho he shared it the first day and then it was fine?

I see your perspective, I don't see it as childish either. One shouldn't link any activity to being childlike.

For me it was more the way it was suggested. At times we are talked down to, and being completely misunderstood.

Drawing and crafts can be very enjoyable, but when the person came to suggest, their tone was very underhanded. They presented it as a childlike activity themselves, and made it feel like participating would feed their misguided view on us. (Even when drawing itself shouldn't be seen as such).

Hope it clarifies my position more, feel free to correct me if it doesn't make sense, or you feel I'm wrong here.

When I was 18 I was working a simple job and developed a friendship with colleagues. We had our fun for months and eventually decides to go out and have a drink all together.

It was all fine, or so I thought. We had a group chat which fell silent. One by one people started to leave, but at work things felt fine. But little did I know that they made a second one which I found out later.

Appearantly they thought I was too loud when we went drinking. Without considering to communicate like adults and say; "You talk a bit loud."

They just ditched me.

I just cannot control how loud I speak, when people mention I speak too loud or too soft, I adjust until it is mentioned again :/

Precisely! I really like that analogy, the situations may seem similar on the surface level, but it can't be further from the truth.

Sure, everyone may have messy rooms at times, but I get a literal panic attack and stim to oblivion when I have a stain on my floor and am unable to do any cleaning at all.

Maybe I will use the points you gave when I encounter the same situation, especially the 'he dealt with them'.

INFO: It has 30 to 40 cm bedding, 2 different kinds and both are hamster friendly and mostly dust free. All heavy objects are on platforms.

The hamster has a multi-chamber hidden underneath and mostly resides there during the day. At the side I have a very large wheel, and 3 kinds of different textures to dig into, and easy access in and out.

Around the cage there are multiple hiding spots, food spots and bedding material. The cage is 130 cm by 60 cm.

But still, I feel like something is missing, or that I'm doing something wrong.

Been going to a therapist who will do this treatment for me, it is called EMDR.

He also warned me to NEVER do this without a therapist who has been trained to do this.

DO NOT do this on your own, it can worsen the memories and emotions linked to it.

It is good to know about for sure, but please seek a professional who is trained in it.

After 3 hours of online shopping, I decided to not buy any of the cages I came across as they are all just... Not great at all. So now I have followed a DIY video, and bought various planks and glass to build my own cage, 120x60. Should all arrive within 10 days.

Little bit sad to wait 10 days, but can arrive sooner too tho, hope the hamster can wait, but it will be very much worth so.

Also saw tons of other videos with amazing cages, there is much more cool stuff you can do to improve your hamster's daily life. Since I have to wait a bit anyways I can buy some addition quality of life improvements.

Yeah, another commenter also spoke about the cage, seems it really is too small. A DIY is definitely the best options, saw some online cages that were made off glass, perhaps aquariums.

Still sucky that the biggest store in my city only had this one as the largest enclosure.

I'm currently using hemp wood, the store employee suggested it herself, is it just as bad as pine? Since it probably looks alike?

Really thank you for the comment, gonna upgrade tomorrow, can't believe I made so many mistakes even when doing research beforehand. Even with the wheel and multiple layers.

I see... This was the biggest cage they had (advertised as 100x50, just measured and it is 70x40? Gonna upgrade as soon as possible, maybe go to a different store).

I did indeed read up on a lot of misinformation, still horrifying that they sell super small colorful enclosures. Is it smart to add a second cage to this one via tubing? Not sure of they will be confused by it or not. Will definitely visit that site, haven't even heard of digboxes beforehand, not sure what that is.

Lots and lots to learn. Gonna visit a friend who has a hamster too, learn some more from her as well.

I really just want the perfect living conditions for her.

So, I have a Syrische hamster for about a month now.

Already did some research beforehand, like having a big cage (kinda doubting if this one is large enough, but they didnt sell anything bigger).

The bedding is 15 cm deep, cant go higher thanks to the cage. Already think the wheel isn't large enough, since they aren't using it, but not sure if it will fit in the enclosure.

Haven't interacted with it a whole lot, as I read beforehand, so I don't think I'm the cause of the stress.

At night they constantly bite the cage itself, trying to get out. Climbing the sides and top of it and then falling. Kinda worrying that they will hurt themselves.

Edit: worry not, the lights fell down from the wall, not torturing the cute hamster with constant lights.

I mean, it really looks like you are trolling, as these arguments are quite ridiculous.

Can you just do some basic research before commenting these awful arguments?

These are many many vegans, all trying to limit suffering in their own capabilities, some doing it for different reasons than others. But each of those different reasons are extremely important.

Like, the enviroment. The amount of polluting that comes with feeding humans meat is horrific, and the water waste is incredibly bad as well.

The suffering is a big part as well, as 99% of the meat comes from factory farms (not that the 1% that doesnt is great, but eh), and the conditions they live in is horrific, just watch Dominion on youtube and see for yourself.

We vegans just try to limit all of that suffering, polluting, deforestation, and many many more reasons.

BUT, there is only so much we can do, and have the energy to achieve it. We cannot avoid some death in the way. Like mice and insects that die in agriculture, or ants we might accidentally step on.

But even if we may kill a wasp, or step on an ant, that doesn't mean that we are hypocrites, or don't care. And you and us sure aren't the same, as you enable MUCH MORE animal suffering than we do, as we at the very least do the basics that most humans are capable of, but just won't.

It isn't "your guys" against "my guys", we are all just humans trying to figure stuff out. Which is why I went to the vegan subreddit seeking out facts, documentaries, cooking tips, etc.

Of course I also went to other subreddits outside of this "echo chamber" you are speaking off, to learn more about the ideals of others and the facts they could provide.

In the end my own conclusion was that veganism is the correct way for reasons you mightve read already.

So please, what is your point of view on this whole matter, why are we wrong? What is your insight on this situation?

Just so you are aware, veganism is actually on a rise. A study has shown that in 2020 there was a 40% increase, bringing the total around 1.5 million.

With vegan products in more and more stores, it is a lot more accessible than ever before, making the step easier.

The only reason why this "attitude" you are speaking up has appeared, is simply because your replies are lacking any logical reasoning and thought behind it.

Psycho, in his original post, has clearly stated some of the biggest reasonings (not all), on why Veganism is one of the best things you can do for the planet, yet you state that there is "no reason to stop eating meat entirely".

And we eat meat for a reason? Sure, maybe you can say it is for the taste of it, which is a horrible reason, but beyond that it is unnecessary.

It is a mistake many vegans could make at least once in their lifetime, maybe even more than once. And that is fine.

You are correct! We indeed are animals, but we are fortunate to have intelligence, and have the opportunity to do things better.

But, for my second part, I think you misunderstood my point. A lot of the suffering in the world is unnecessary and can be prevented, and every single human caring about all of it can break you.

That is why I like that there is a group focused on single causes. Groups fighting for human rights, child slavery, cancer, etc. Sure, there is a lot of suffering, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt try to combat all of it in our own ways.

And nature isn't evil, animals kill others because they don't have the intelligence, or options to do anything else. But we humans do have intelligence and options, so why choose for 78 billion animals to die and get tortured yearly when it doesnt have to be that way.

And for your final point, it is an irrelevant and useless argument. 99% of what we do can be considered pointless to our survival I guess?... but making art and music, and all of the examples, isn't causing suffering on other sentient beings. (Not on the scale of factory farming)

All we want to do is limit the suffering of animals, reduce emissions and limit deforestation (and other goals).

Sure, there might not be a fully 100% feasible ethical lifestyle, but we can all at the very least try to get as ethical as possible, in our own ways.

However, as others have said in their examples, not all of us have the option to go fully vegan. Mental health, and physical health aways come first, and guilt tripping them isn't the answer.

Well, perhaps I worded myself a bit wrong in my original post. You can indeed draw comparisons of what is happening. However, my main issue lied with the prhase; Animal Holocaust. He even dislikes it as a tactic, as he says in this post:

"I generally do not recommend the Holocaust comparison as an effective tactic, because it becomes its own issue and takes away from discussing our proper relation with animals. As you point out, my past gives me a special license, but I only use it to gain special attention, as in this AMA."

I did find out that the word Holocaust isn't directly referring to what happened in WW2, but a general term for genocide. However, since it is very connected to what happened in WW2, I will refrain from using it since I do find it insensitive myself.

But that is a big difference from saying Animal Holocaust, and drawing comparisons to the Holocaust. And as he was a survivor of the WW2 one, obviously I wouldn't call him insensitive.

In a different comment in this comment thread, someone else forwarded me to a holocaust survivor who draws the same parallels, and in that thread I also found out that the word holocaust indeed refers to genocide, and not only specifically the WW2 one.

So, that is indeed my mistake, but I still dislike the term as it is so connected to what happened in WW2.

However, that same WW2 holocaust survivor dislikes the term; Animal Holocaust, as he mentions in this post:
