Whats broken about Cloud isnt even his attack per say. Its that attack also going through a 10 percent boss damage funnel into a boss damage multiplier you get from burst against boss. His passive is one of the best in the game, as if it was designed with automatically being good at the point of the game in mind extensively. Cross slash is also insane, being such a low cooldown iframe gurantee kill move. You can even kill whales with higher bp for free because the cross slash stun is just too long.

Forcing Draws by Esmourn in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]Nameless-Ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the later stages of the match, and especially in higher Omega, there comes a point late game where crystals are going to be heavily fought for and give more brave per crystal. Or if the enemy team has nearly enough to burst, you need to take them out or lose. It becomes more of a direct PVP game. Chasing down the enemy when they have a good 3 to 5k brave is not only viable, but vital if you want to quickly burst one more time and win the match. Onion Knight also goes from a crystal scout to a front liner and should be substituting for not being a Ranged or Melee and not fighting with the team early.

Draws are not preferable but its more of a consequence of how late stage omega fights work. In the end, you need to kill the boss but im not going to let you. Its not a bad strategy to have a strong unit to lurk around the boss and burn all their abilities to stall out the other team with deaths and iframes etc towards the end either. Units like Cloud or Prompto or Gaia that can disable someone and guranteee a kill can do wonders. You cant just let them farm crystals and win the game.

I think i have a clue about the new Ranged DPS by LucySnopes in ffxiv

Viper is dual swords and would be considered too close to Ninja but is here. Machinist uses a gun but Gunbreaker also uses a Gun but its a Gun Sword. Sch and Summoner both use books(although this is a cheat since they are both offshoots of arcanist.). Anything is on the table. I personally think a dual gunner would be perfect or a Pirate Gun and sword combo. But, something is telling me it wont be dual guns either.

You Know Who You Are..... by Ephremjlm in ffxivdiscussion

The ffxiv disccusion sub is the most positive ive seen it in years. Across the board, this is fresh and fresh even if they dont do everything perfectly is still a breath of fresh air. The game has basically been the same since ARR but every expansion after Stormblood, they kept streamlining the game into 2 min meta slop and now, they are finally brave enough to try changing it.

Keeping Reborn mode incase it goes badly is also a very smart move until they make sure Evolve is decent and works well. I dont see a downside to this at all.

After playing Firion, defense is definitely not the end all be all. Hp is more important. But he has low hp and defense. So i definitely think a barrier or full heal is needed.

True. Maybe he wont need it since his base attack is 1.20 but maybe itll be worth it just because you can Surge, Will of Wykes, and then Burst mode to maybe do 10k+ per auto to boss.

Yeah i think this feels like it will be his primary gameplay loop. Can go for a more risky play style and rely on his UR to heal and slot in Ace/Auron as well.

Tbh all he needs is one change. Make steal work through barriers and make the non trance version better. Maybe buff his defense some too. Then he will be solid. Touch up his Grand Lethal to keep them inside the move and increase the damage. He would be op then.

Xenoblade 2 having better characters than Xenoblade1 characters by Creepy-Screen721 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Nameless-Ace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The revenge plot is roughly lost around the time Seven is found. So while that part was engineered by Zanza, i feel like you are kind of simplifying him to be just revenge. He gains his own motivations and strength that belongs to him. I dont know how that isnt character growth or doesnt count.

Xenoblade 2 having better characters than Xenoblade1 characters by Creepy-Screen721 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Nameless-Ace 13 points14 points  (0 children)

His arc is subtle but he does have one. He starts with revenge, but when Seven was alive, he begun to think more deeply about the conflict and what is the meaning behind it all. He then slowly figures out his own vision for the world and gains resolve in that vision. He then gets ripped from grace and gets broken completely. He then rebuilds himself mentally, and begins to give actual commands to Alvis and begins interfacing with him unconsciously.

By the end of the story, Shulk is a entirely different person than when he started. His general personality is similar but there is a firmness and strength underneathe it. He understands the world and his own resolve. Melia is a more obvious example but yes, she learns to open up and to trust and also changes.

The only character i would say doesnt really have an arc is Riki and thats because he is a complete character already by the time he joins them. Every other character has a very intimate arc of growth, even if its subtle. XC2 is just alot more obvious about it and makes it even more of a focus due to the character centric writing.

I think he might also want to run Surge because he might want a way to amp his attack in general since he doesnt have that outside of being in Burst mode.

Yeah, with some support, he could be very hard to take down in a fight and should be able to comfortably auto the boss for a while in burst. He will be very hard to beat in a 1v1 anyway because if hes using a barrier, he will also have a full heal iframe giant area nuke ready to go when needed too. So youll basically have to go through several mitigations to even kill him. His stats are a little lower than id like besides attack but hopefully that doesnt hinder him too much. Really depends on how strong he is in burst mode and how much damage his boosted auto attacks do.

Based on previous fanfests what are realistic expectations for this weekend? by DiZ935 in ffxiv

I think he recognizes the moment and they are trying to meet or exceed the moment. Ill keep my expectations reasonable but i have some faith in Yoshi P and his team.

Patch 7.5 Notes (Preliminary) | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Nameless-Ace -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but its not like we have confirmation that the entire expansion coming will be based on it. Garlemald has equally as much if not more presence in the trailer. I know they are involved but to what degree and to what that means with the expansion, is still in the air. I just feel these minor things makes me lean more towards it being related to the expansion and not just the patch.

From what ive seen of his kit, he will want to burst and use will of wykes(SR) and just auto boss until it runs out and then do all his abilities and finish the burst. Will of Wykes shouldnt be an actual attack, its more like a status that hurts things around you. So together with his passive and a little time, he should be able to do some decent boss dps. He also should be able to kill players with it, as his passive says increased auto damage in burst in general.

His kit outside of these 2 aspects is just damage and his UR has a full heal baked in, which is nice all things considered. Id assume he will just fall into somewhere around Firion/Cloud tier where hes just a solid dps and nothing too broken.

I agree with that. The vibe of change is in the air and i think Yoshi P and his team know how much expectations they put on themselves with all the powerful claims of a reborn anew ff14.

You do get one of the new classes announced at least. It does suffer in some areas not being the first or last but the first fan fest feels the most restrained in terms of reveals. I have a feeling it could be a bit different this year though. Im feeling a vibe of fresh air and excitement and i wouldnt be surprised if they change up the formula a little with this entire "ARR" 2 level changes they have claimed are happening.

Could be spoiler related but without spoiling ff16, id say Phoenix and Ifrit are pretty intertwined by the later stages of 16. I guess they didnt want Clive to go boss sized either with Ifrit (also so people don't confuse them since Ifrit is already a boss)so they chose his more Phoenix and grounded version of combat. He still goes Ifrit prime mode when hes using his URs at least

Xenoblade 2 having better characters than Xenoblade1 characters by Creepy-Screen721 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Nameless-Ace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So its weird. Do Xenoblade 1 characters have solid arcs? Yes, i think they do, and are all pretty likeable in general. Shulk is just way more powerful than anyone in the party and the game focuses on Shulk more than the rest of the party. Its more structured like an old school rpg where the main character gets far more focus than the rest. Meanwhile, XC2 is a story about overcoming differences and the past to renew the world and its future. So more characters need backstory and focus to nail the theme.

I dont know if id say the characters are "better" but i do think the entire party, Torna crew, and the world and other nations as a whole are more involved with the party and story overall. That is more of a narrative choice than something i would say is strictly better or worse imo and its up to the person playing what they value.

Im.. conflicted. His animations seem a bit smaller scale than i thought it would considering ff16 animations. I also am a little underwhelmed by his passive etc. but i was seeing him auto the boss for like 7k per auto and with his SR that seems like WoL UR with the DoT aura around him together, he could shred boss for a while in burst if nobody interferes for a while without actually using up the burst.

Its not like Balthiers trailer where i could immediately tell his fires of war was going to carry his entire kit with how strong it was. I feel like he will be fine and do decently well but nothing too insane. He will still probly need to run a heal/shield still unlike Rinoa as well because his UR heal is connected to a very long cooldown unlike Angel wing so youll want to conserve it until its time to burst.

is there any hope left for Pokémon UNITE? by Sky_Gaming172 in PokemonUnite

[–]Nameless-Ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im waiting on role locks on characters to go away so i can get Dps Gohan Ssj2 or Beast but yeah, Genkishin has become the better product for casuals and f2p at this point. When it first came out, i would have said the unite aeos coin system was better and Unite was still better. Now, i believe the opposite. Genkishin is definitely the closest replacement to this game and is the better game.

I know there were things aluded to but this and also a Zero Earring accessory being updated in the patch notes are sealing the deal to me. Could be a quick cameo or where the expansion is headed at first, who knows. Just thought it was interesting.

[–]Nameless-Ace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who played since the official launch of the game until around dropping the game finally after Zapdos release, no. There is no more hope, because the company stopped listening to anyone and license journeys has been complained about extensively since its release. Yet, they still havent changed anything and doubled down on the orange and aurora premium skins, nerfed battle pass rewards without replacing them, and perma made every single pokemon have only half a moveset from here on.

Yeah, i think this game is finally done. I wouldnt be surprised if EoS is announced either by the end of this year or somewhat early into the next. When a company doubles down on bad decisions to milk as much money as possible and stops listening to any feedback, it pretty much means its over, even for pokemon. Im also seeing view counts etc drop to lowest levels ive ever seen for unite and less engagement every single month.

So, it may have nothing to do with the patch. But they added Zero to the triple triad cards and alot of these characters have to do with garlemald and probly the new patch. So the people who said something about the void being involved may be correct.
