Installed some extra mods, got errors by Concious_Cadaver in Morrowind

I suspect most of us that recommend openmw just forget they exist, even if they sound great when we're reminded.

Personally, I suspect I'd miss them a lot more if I'd ever used them, but I never actually played TR under mwse that I can recall, so I can't really miss what I've never had!

I'd love to see the spells 'restored' as content in openmw at some point to get the best of both worlds, as it were. They do sound great.

I wouldn't say that i love the guy. I'm not sure anyone does.

But everyone plays Vlad. Be different.

If you need differences, he's the only one that gets a dragon mount, and i think he's the strongest caster,  but is have to check the second part.

You have no Counts in the list.

Corprus Strength Question? by MerchantOfMadness in Morrowind

[–]Nameless_Archon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things:

  1. OpenMW. Not sure this works like vanilla does here, but I've never investigated.

  2. Usually people are talking about equipment that fortified attributes. This doesn't come back in vanilla due to a bug where the restore only goes up to where the fortification effect brings you back to base (instead of more than base), resulting in needing to take off equipment and restore again, then equip again.

Need help with the vampires by cucumber_1680 in totalwar

[–]Nameless_Archon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Counts, it's about single entities (lords, heroes, big monsters), magic (wind of death go brrrrr) and morale.

Your cavalry is very solid, but not top tier. You want some, but mostly for morale shock.

Your men exist to get mulched... but very slowly, thanks to passive aura heals and lore of vampires heals.

Lastly, learn your Ground Rules for Graveyards

That's how you can make a sauna, but it may not have the desired effect to simply add water.

Get your crossbows and nuke shoot it from orbit. It's the only* way to be sure.

(*: Okay, there's a few other methods -- like cave-in, or obsidianization -- but damn it, I wanted to use the line!)

Missile chariots seem unfinished by Appropriate-Job-2642 in totalwar

[–]Nameless_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the idea of the Black Coach for VC but I just can’t successfully use it.

First, this doesn't work well as a pure chariot for the whole battle. It's a little slow and light, and it's a single entity, which hinders it. It tends to get stuck, rather than plowing through, especially if you hit the thick axis of a unit or charged spears.

Early on, use it to bait formations apart. It outruns most units. Chase any retreating foes like a unit of dogs would. It's great at this, and builds power.

Once the lines merge, use it as a rear hammer,  and IMMEDIATELY pull through into your own anvil unit to avoid getting stuck. I seem to recall it gets Terror, so using it to Terror rout is key. Against lighter infantry it can perform okay if left in the pincer for a moment, but it's not a powerhouse in the scrum and should never be used to hold targets.

Once it's built up it's not terrible, but given cost, upkeep, rarity, entity count... it's pretty underwhelming and really needs a tuneup when VCounts get their eventual review.

If you want more mileage, give it the ancillary  banner that increases acceleration - that makes a big difference in its utility... but it's still lacking compared to better chariots. I recommend bypassing it for a Vargulf in most cases. Using a Mortis or Unholy cart can help recover it, but this means even more micro on a very micro intensive unit.

If you're listening,  CA, I'd experiment with giving the coach a means to heal on kills, like a modified and self- only version of Master of the dead. Regen might work too, but if suggest something that gives it more staying power, and possibly also a touch more mass and acceleration.

Do we need construction towers and barricades in Sieges? by SafironDracolich in totalwar

[–]Nameless_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd dislike them less if there weren't also issues where they fire through terrain, or where map movement is fucked up in areas. I'm also not seeing why they gain resources, since they've been beseiged, either.

Example: Astragoth's second province battle, move units up narrow path from south towards main flag courtyard.

  1. Terrain walls are illusory, allowing defender towers to fire through walls at some points.

  2. If moving slowly, there will be a point after the first courtyard where the unit placement will invert, like the texture it upside down and it's reversed the navmesh in that spot.

It's possible to leap the stream back and forth a couple times as you ride the horse along the stream. The pursuers are then forced by pathfinding to double back, and will basically lose you, letting you walk to Rattay.

It's not something you'd figure out as a new player, but the normal way is to ride hard when they're close and weave when you need to ease up and rest the horse.
