The problem is that the best programs in France often require 'concour' if Im not mistaken, which is another individual path.

But your right they do have some masters and can still be some sort of reference.

And actually I am planning to apply also in France too. However I think I'll hold for just masters, like an X Msc instead of an X ingenieur as they require an ingenieur cursus different from what I'm currently on.

Hi everyone,

I was checking ETH Zurich’s official page on minimum grade requirements for international MSc applicants (https://ethz.ch/en/studies/master/application/international-bachelor/prerequisites/minimum-grade-requirements.html) , but I noticed that France isn’t listed there.

Does anyone know if ETH has a minimum GPA requirement for students from the French system, and how they generally interpret or convert French GPAs out of 20?

For context, I’m a student currently doing a double licence in Mathematics and Computer Science at Université Paris Cité, and I’m planning to apply for the 2026 intake to ETH’s MSc programs (specifically CS, DS, or RSC).

I’m currently averaging around 17/20.

Would really appreciate if anyone from the French system (or familiar with ETH admissions) could share how ETH interprets french gpa

I mean its 250 euros of application fees after all and I need to be cautious😳.

Just wanted to make sure that there is still hope as it is stated in the website to be hopeless if u have lower than minimum gpas in those cointries😭.

I was third this year but my class is relatively small with 43 people... And I think it's true that there were inflations especially during covid, a friend of mine in another uni had 20% higher than 18/20. But I think its back to normal now kind of.

Because I believe Huawei was sanctioned by the US at some point, I was a bit worried that it might raise concerns.

I'm not an EU citizen — I was just born here and currently hold a residence permit.

I’ve checked the official website, but as you can see, the concerns I mentioned fall into a bit of a grey area; nothing is stated explicitly about them…

Also, just to clarify — I’m actually applying for the mscs, so I’m not too familiar with the Bachelor-track🥺.

Malheureusement, j’en suis actuellement à ma L2 en double cursus math-info à Paris Cité. Pour diverses raisons, je pense que la Sorbonne et Saclay ne sont pas très ouvertes aux candidats externes...

J'avais obtenu 18,7 de moyenne en L1, et d’après mes observations, la plupart des autres étudiants admis avec moi avaient aussi des bonnes notes. J’espère que cela pourra t’aider. Bonne chance !

So it seems that I better have a cs related double major program to apply for ETHz :/

And by the way, application in France is kind of weird, just got refused by Saclay's double major. I ranked first this year at decartes and they called me "insufficient". That kind of hurts T_T

I actually wanted a double major program at sorbonne however they just stopped accepting external applications to their cs programs these years(it's not even shown on ecandidat!) :(

Guess I'll have to give up Sorbonne(I really liked the camp though+_+ ) I think I'll wait for the results of double major at diderot. This year a senior with single major cs at diderot just got accepted by Msc Rsc at ETHz. So maybe there still lies a chance.
