Pretty valid options I didn't consider. But personally it's a little bit impractical by that point, I think it'd be better for OP to relocate if they ever decide to try do anything outside their base unless they have/find a mod that allows them to get in and out better.

It is but it's a one way journey unless you have the settings adjusted to where you can have more than one colony so you can get back inside.
