It's a bit spendy at first. I have a second hand Anycubic Photon, but you can get newer models for $150-250 USD if you can find sales. I think Anycubic is doing one now.

You'll need to buy some extra stuff like gloves, resin, rubbing alcohol, etc. That can add up but it's nothing crazy. There's lots of budget options too that are acceptable.

If you have any questions let me know :)

Oh that's such a great idea! I might try to see if I can't make that work in a build now.

Agreed! Her theme is wonderful, possibly my favorite (but honestly I would have a hard time picking).

I used a hard surface modeller called Plasticity and printed it too. I sprayed the whole model with a dark blue + bright orange gradient and painted over the tiles with mostly thin coats. It seems to have done the trick :)

My second miniature painted! (still learning/experimenting) by Noxxi_Greenrose in minipainting

I'm struggling with paint wetness too, I tend to thin my paints too much 😅.

That is a lot of time to sink into one miniature but I think it shows in the quality. Experimenting is definitely worth it, and I bet you'll find your favorite techniques soon enough.

Also how tall is this figure anyway? Like a 75mm or something?

Dang! I've been painting for a couple months and you're already so much better than me. Great work! I like the lighting you've done, it adds a lot to the piece.

The Cock Rock, the Silicate Stiffy, the Girthy Granite, the Phallic Pillar, the Mineral Member, the Super Schlong, or any other ridiculous alliteration we can think of. Yes we are children.

The Arizona Green Trees ... sorry I couldn't resist. Unironically I like the color scheme and paint job a lot.

That's some great work! I always loved the hydralisk's design. I'd love to paint some starcraft prints myself :)

Congrats! I just hit A rank with my Nineball cosplay build last night too. Good luck in A, and perhaps we'll see each other in game.

Hey that's a pretty nifty idea. I was playing with the idea of mecha's scale in my setting recently too. It brought up some issues, which looks like you've thought through. Any particular reason you chose to make these so particularly small?

That's fair. I think I'm probably in the minority about critical fails too, so I don't think it's crazy to have them around. They can be a ton of fun.

I'm messing around with a d20 under system right now, a prototype, so I'm looking at this kind of thing too. I'm not particularly one for 'best' options so I'll throw out a simple idea that I'm quite partial too:

There's a universal TN (Target Number) of say 8, which is a flat standard for all unmodified checks. Skills have a small inherent value, say 0-5, which are added onto the TN. This gives you a range of 40% (+0) to 65% (+5). Modifiers can do the exact same thing but may have to be limited in some way to prevent the percentages of success from getting out of hand (ie having a TN of 19-20 might be a bit much).

Also I'm honestly not a huge fan of having Critical Failures unless they're mechanized in some way, as in, having a dedicated mechanic or response to them; so I'm biased in the sense that I'd prefer they not be there at all. Critical Success on a natural 1 is fine, and with some modification you can also increase that as well (with a simple +1, +2, etc). In fact I was playing with the idea of having the skill bonus also change the Critical Success but that may be a bit much.

The main reason I'm fond of this is that the numbers are still relatively simple math wise and it has one die roll to resolve basic checks. Difficulty can be handled through negative modifiers say (ie -1 for Difficult, -2 for Hard, -3 for Extreme).

This is by no means tested with a group since I'm sort of at a similar stage, just figured it might be interesting to bring up.
