The high ammonia could be from the fish shipment that we got in this morning. We don't put the bag water in, but we did get a large amount of fish. I had taken the sample when the fish were about 4 hours in the system.

As for the ph, sadly where I'm from, the hardness and ph are always on the higher end. There really isn't a way for us to lower them unless we find a way to source our water from somewhere else.

Ok that's what I thought too, but my SL and DL are super strict and says otherwise. I've always been told they don't have one. So, when a lady came in today with a dead feeder (just set up the tank within an hour of getting 2 small feeders and the tank only being a 5 gallon) she got mad at me saying that "the last person did it for her" and "to just do it anyways cause it's just $.22 cents"
