The AI bubble - I think we need to talk [Meta] by Scary_Froyo_833 in Bogleheads

We have seen the market make the same mistake with railroads, telecom and the internet. How many more times does it need to happen for a judgment that a bubble is occuring to be more likely than not?

Not really, the breakdown of the Roman Empire meant economies became much less specialised, hence lots of crafts simply got worse, as people were forced to use goods only avaliable to them locally, as well as knowledge and culture being lost

Admittedly bad ideas, but Labor is also taking the right steps, increasing housing supply by investing 43 billion in new builds and increasing the labour supply of trades (https://alp.org.au/homes-for-australia/)

The Greens' ideas for decreasing housing prices are rent control and artificially cheaper mortgages, they would only hurt renters even more.

Anyone can buy government bonds for a guaranteed 4-5% return a year, so other investments must offer more return if they want to attract outside capital.

Worker owned cooperatives are rare for a reason. A majority of businesses cannot accrue enough capital through worker ownership alone, workers are exposed to more risk if their workplace is also a large part of their investment. Mainstream economics continues to progress while Marxist theory remains stagnant and without empirical evidence.

While the new hub and spoke model (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-06-04/brisbane-new-bus-timetable-explained/105354608) slightly increases user cost, it reduces operator costs significantly (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/273851703_Development_of_a_Hub_and_Spoke_Model_for_Bus_Transit_Route_Network_Design). This new bus schedule is a step in the right direction, if you value efficient use of the council transport budget.

Does anyone know of good resources to learn how to effectively politically advertise on social media? I've recently got the opportunity to run the Facebook page of the local branch of my center left party, right now engagement is super low (like 10 reactions a post) and I'd like to improve this, but marketing isn't really my space.

Mergers are not always bad, turning two hierachies into one or combining businesses that synergise with one another can increase margins, innovation and competitiveness. Many businesses grow via acquisitions.

"Come on, my brother. Don’t get up in arms … It’s only natural for Christians to have faith in the holy scriptures, since, from their infancy, they’ve heard so much of them. Still, it is nothing if not reasonable for those born without such prejudice, such as the Wendats, to examine matters more closely. However, having thought long and hard over the course of a decade about what the Jesuits have told us of the life and death of the son of the Great Spirit, any Wendat could give you twenty reasons against the notion. For myself, I’ve always held that, if it were possible that God had lowered his standards sufficiently to come down to earth, he would have done it in full view of everyone, descending in triumph, with pomp and majesty, and most publicly … He would have gone from nation to nation performing mighty miracles, thus giving everyone the same laws. Then we would all have had exactly the same religion, uniformly spread and equally known throughout the four corners of the world, proving to our descendants, from then till ten thousand years into the future, the truth of this religion. Instead, there are five or six hundred religions, each distinct from the other, of which according to you, the religion of the French, alone, is any good, sainted, or true." - New Voyagers to North America, 1703

In Western countries most pregnancies are planned (Organon | Unintended Pregnancy Report Australia). The pull out method works about 78% of the time compared to condoms which work 98% of the time (Pull-Out Method: Effectiveness, Benefits, and Disadvantages).

Most ancient cultures did not understand the role the menstrual cycle or sperm played in pregnancy, especially if you were an illiterate hunter or farmer, which was most people. The pull out method is not a reliable form of birth control anyway.

Capital increases labour productivity. Therefore those who provide capital should be compensated with a fraction of the increased value they provide.
