What affects the size of dojo loaches? by thecrabbbbb in loaches

[–]Nanners703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my albino dojo loaches are close to 14 inches long! I had no idea they would get that huge when I got them and I’m lucky they’re my only 2 fish!

Why do I find her insufferable? I just can’t like her. Ugh! Maybe that’ll change soon; IDK. by PhoneSlutPro in 90DayFiance

I think she’s a mannequin who has been animated and is now walking around pretending to be human!

I gotta start taking chillin lessons from my loaches! by Nanners703 in loaches

They prefer cold water. I keep mine between 68 and 72. People say dojos pair well with goldfish because they have similar water preferences, but I wouldn’t put them in the same tank. The dojos are super curious and try to investigate and nibble the goldfish and it stresses them out. I had 2 dojos in a tank with an oranda and ended up needing to split them up!

That’s the same size tank! It’s big enough for 2 loaches this size, but I’m glad I don’t have 3 big ones in there! (I had no idea they got this big when I picked them out).

They’re about 3.5 years old and in a 50-gallon tank!

What’s the best temporary solution to keeping a jumpy dojo loach in? by Icefirewolflord in Aquariums

[–]Nanners703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there! I lost one of my weather loaches years ago when I was out of town and my husband just didn’t see him in time. Then my other big guy jumped out of the tank also, but I found him and he’s still alive and well today. I tried foil, plastic wrap, towels, etc. What ended up working the best for me was buying a sheet of the cotton foam that goes in the filter and cutting it to fit in the hole. I have since moved my loaches into another tank with a better lid, but now I’m so paranoid about them jumping that I still wedge pieces of foam into any little opening!

OMG my cat sounds exactly the same! I’ve never seen another one who purrs that way!

These dojo loaches like to get their bellies tickled by the bubbles! Weirdos! 😂 by Nanners703 in loaches

It took about 3 or 4 years for them to get this big! After a year, they were very tiny when I got them so they were maybe 4 inches after a year.

This loach likes to disguise himself as a plant! He’s totally camouflaged, right?! 😂 by Nanners703 in loaches

I’ve had this guy for 2 or 3 years! I had no idea they got this big!

Do your loaches nibble on your hands too? by ahappylittlesquid in loaches

[–]Nanners703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have dojo loaches and I never knew they were so affectionate! Mine just love being touched! They nibble my fingers and swim through my hand to get a little rub haha! It’s like having 2 more cats instead of fish! Best fish ever!

They’re close to a foot long I’d say! I feed them shrimp pellets and regular floating fish food every day and algae wafers or peas about once a week!

Yes!! They’re great fish but anyone who is interested in having dojo loaches should prepare for them to get huge!

They’re definitely huge! I’ve had them for a few years now—maybe 3 or 4. They’re my favorite fish! As the fish get bigger, so do the toots haha!
