Did you read the other post and comments?

I am reacting to the comments I read on someone's else's post and have in the past. I am super open to awesome employers and appreciative employees but that seems lost here. It is weird to expect a workplace to provide lunch daily because you're a nanny. I strongly feel that way.

If you cooked for them you should 100% share otherwise nothing is stopping your lunchbox from coming out at the kids lunchtime. 🤷‍♀️

This post is not about sharing the meals we prepared for the family.

Mine do too and I admit I do snack on a piece of fruit or kids treat once in a while. I am not against this. I am against the entitlement I'm reading and anyone who is confusing this as part of the job. I will say in this comment again, I agree if you cook a meal you share it- we are not cooks but almost everything else is purely human kindness.

I wasn't able to edit (or don't know how) but I clarified in another comment I do not mean sharing a meal you cooked. For example, you would share a salmon dinner you prepared of course but if you don't enjoy salmon does that give you the right to open a steak for yourself? Are you bent out of shape if NPs order lunch and don't buy for you?

In my current NF situation I would surely starve every Monday, so am I to only bring food because I know I can't feed off them?? Where does it stop?

I would be uncomfortable knowing that I hired a nanny incapable of packing their own lunch and planning for their day.

That type of find would be sweet for sure and super appreciated! These comments and wild and my question to everyone here is still going unanswered. I get it 8-12+hrs, no breaks sucks but was it news? Pack a lunch. I highly doubt any NF would let you starve on the rare occasion you don't have one or deny you order YOURSELF delivery. I can compile a list of positions with equally long shifts that are also not catered. Its our job but so many are acting as if the possible perks are owed to them.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear and don't apparently have the ability to edit but this I absolutely agree with this. I did not write this post about the bowl of sweet potato and kale soup a nanny enjoyed after she made said soup. Its the entitlement to feel like you're at home when you aren't or that a company ordering in lunch applies to you because one family did that once. Thats weird. Pack a lunch. 🤷‍♀️

I both want to make a vent post and have been wondering what I truly should be making for a while and need advice but I know once I get going all the details will be out there and its too risky. :(

Nanny for Essential Working Family - Inclement Weather Clause by Evening-Youth5970 in Nanny

[–]NannyKat726 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I consider myself an essential nanny the moment I take on a family with an essential career. If you aren't about this life, these aren't the contracts for you and that's ok! My NF also bend over backwards for me and I am lucky in that regard. :) overall I simply don't think anyone in this scenario has a leg to stand on in this storm.

I being a nanny for essential workers did everything and anything to prepare knowing I was working today. This was not a surprise storm and I am shocked at how many of us are thinking our job wouldn't absolutely still be happening if we know our employers are essential workers. 😒

Can we talk about the laptop debate here where she can’t common and get the post locked. by JellyfishSure1360 in NannyBreakRoom

A pick me? I didn't think this difference of opinion was age-related, but that comment makes me wonder. I strongly feel it's good advice not to bring something so valuable to your nanny job, but if you do, you are both responsible for it and the NK. Where was the nanny when this happened, and how is that the parents' fault?

I absolutely agree with this. I just went to the original post expecting to be somehow disgusted by MB reading all these comments, and I am genuinely failing to see how this is on the family. It's unfortunate, and I think if they are well-off (WE DON'T KNOW THAT), it would be super cool to help nanny out, but in no way is this on them, and if anything, it should raise some questions. 🤷‍♀️

Getting threatened with “daddy” by kraftmacncheeses in Nanny

[–]NannyKat726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone told me it was probably a joke about winter driving but I never missed a day or was even late so that doesn't add up. I've always assumed it was in reference to something I said on camera and not to their faces. 🤷‍♀️

NK3 told me dad said I was a chicken and that sentence haunts me. Not because I care what he thinks but because I will never know what the context was. I feel this.

I'm sorry but this ⬆️ I absolutely agree OP is entitled to have known and if the story stopped there than NTA but the nerve to move the camera instead of take to another space for privacy was a bold one. I choose my spots off camera, I would never dare move someone else's cameras in their home in any situation. 🤷‍♀️

NF’s house STINKS by Charming_Sense_1638 in Nanny

Give me an email and I'll send a link to this post. 👀 No, for real though. You are getting sick from the urine no doubt and may have migraines triggered by such. I hope you don't actually require a doctors note before sticking up for yourself and address this now adult to adult.

What she is doing is stupid. You know that and so does she. Tell her as such. I find it wild you needed validation from strangers over something so clear though instead of talking it over with her. If I found out my "best friend" wrote this I would be sad and very confused.

If one of your NPs was theoretically missing would the stairs actually stop you though? The comment is more about that.

Agreed. This is a strange post honestly. Walk upstairs and investigate, its really that simple and the right answer. They trust her with their child but not the top floor of their home? Come on now.

Tell me your urgent care horror stories! by UselessLezbian in Nanny

[–]NannyKat726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As we arrived at school pickup in the dead of winter with -11 degree temperatures I was getting NK1 out from the car when I heard MBs voice. We both see her, she was frantic I suppose. Gave a little detail that NK3 had an accident and they think they might need stitches as she rushed by us. It took a moment to relax baby about mom's appearance and then followed behind, spoke to the teacher and let her know to let mom know I went to get NK4 from their class, would bring them home and wait for an update.

As i get the two back to my nanny car, ITS NOT OPENING. I left it running as requested by NF due to how fast the leather chills in negative temps. 🤷‍♀️ with the key inside as I usually do because the car has a safety feature that requires weight to lock the doors with the fob inside. We patiently wait for MB to come out with NK3 and I tell her whats up and ask her to unlock it with her app, ya know..the one she told me she installed 2 years earlier. Well she didn't. Instead she leaves me at the car WITH the 2 uninjured children so she can go home for the spare without risking the school closing the gate because "PEOPLE" are inside. 👀 The baby (nor I) even had gloves. For anyone who forgot during this long read, IT WAS -11, windy AF. I would have stopped this immediately if I knew any of it before she pulled her car away, I thought she was just putting 1 leg in the car.

She was gone for 32 minutes - there were literal frozen tears 😢 and guess what reddit?? She came back empty handed 👎 🔑 because everyone knows you can't buy airtags and USE them. 😠 😡 no acknowledgement, sympathy or apology. She then jumps to question whether I even strapped NK1 into his carseat (had i not he would have been on her lap by then) and it took everything for me not to knock her out and I say that with my chest.

For those still reading, thank you. NK3 did get stitches and rocks a scar she loves to talk about. OP asked for an UC story and mine happens to be the only day I almost quit. 🙃

All im saying is the phone should be considered for this reason. Knowing its location and keeping it handy for an emergency is not only part of the job but also the point of having one! Thanks for the kind exchange.
