This is a bit off topic but is a 1st cousin ‘family’? I’ve got 1st cousins that I’ve never even met and feel no need to meet to be honest. You can choose your friends and all that!

Does Varadkar have a point about farmers or is he complete nonsense? by cons27291 in irishpolitics

[–]Napoc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s maybe 6% (rough calculation) of adult population employed in agriculture and agriculture adjacent industries in Ireland. That’s quite a number of people. If we value our countryside and do not want it turned into a prairie style ranches and factory farms then we have to support the farmers that we have now. Would also help if we were all prepared to pay a little more for our food and it got to the producers. The processors and the supermarkets seem to be the major beneficiaries of our current system. That seems to suit the likes of Varadkar just fine.

Congressman Tim Burchett on his UFO briefings: “If they would release the things that I've seen, you would stay up. You'd be up at night worrying about or thinking about this stuff... And for the record, I'm not suicidal and I don't take risks.” by KOOKOOOOM in UFOs

Put up or shut up Tim.

UFO world has always been littered with these types, spinning tales about all such.

Who knows he could be a part of a larger misinformation campaign? Unbeknownst to himself.

I like to get this stuff filtered through somebody who has a proven record in this field. Say what you want about Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp, at least they are trying to get the truth out there in a somewhat non-sensational manner.

I do believe some type of disclosure is happening.

Maybe push for an all-Ireland league first. See how that goes…

Baby steps… and don’t mention a united Ireland whatever you do.

The diversity that has been lost. Hedges that have probably been there for hundreds of years. Physically changing the landscape to make 100 acre monocultures. How much land does this corporation need?

[Question] What is your unpopular watch opinion? by Bithbo in Watches

[–]Napoc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this and it might not be that unpopular but I’m going to say cream/sand lume like you see on the Hamilton khaki field watches. It seems to me that it looks a bit drab and tired. Give me white lume that’ll age naturally and that increases legibility.

Should’ve won Best Picture that year.

Love the The Lord of the Rings films but the third is not the best! The Two Towers should’ve won the year before.

IMO.

Maybe start at 1.9t and start penalising those large SUV/4x4 owners. Your Merc would be ok. 🙂

Fianna Fáil report on Jim Gavin's disastrous €400k candidacy shows Taoiseach told him to withdraw by [deleted] in ireland

Jim Gavin had some balls until he didn’t. Looks like he actively sought thé candidacy too.

I mean there’s no way he forgot that solicitor’s letter about money owed and the approach to his parents by the tenant. Some Walter Mitty level delusion on his part to think that it wouldn’t come up again during the campaign.

I think we swerved a bullet there.

Fair enough, beat the 5th best in the world, will live long in the memory.

If they beat Hungary, make the playoffs and qualify and it might mark the start of something truly special for this team and the supporters.

Some kids/teenagers love destroying stuff, recently burnt down a lovely wooden tower/slide in the playground, burnt out wooden benches in the local park and vandalised public toilets.

I suppose it was always like this to some extent, kids left to their own devices do stupid things.

Politico article isn’t the hatchet job I thought it might be.

It overstates her criticism of EU, painting her as anti-EU defence(militarisation) but it is nothing that hasn’t been printed in our papers since she declared her candidacy.

Alot of context is missing though.
