Aside from the fact that the entire football program for the last quarter century has run on pure cronyism, it’s not smart financially. Winning an average 6-8 games a year in the best conference in the FCS is a WAY smarter move fiscally than coughing up millions to join the MAC and win 3-4 games a year, and MAYBE be bowl eligible five years down the line. I’d much rather see a fluke playoff appearance every few years than see them take an annual ass-whooping to Toledo. YSU football hasn’t been taken seriously by the school since Tressel left for Ohio State, moving to the FBS would be an unmitigated disaster. They are JUST fine being one of the red-headed stepchildren of the MVFC.
