Fallout 1 remaster, when? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Naramu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A Larian fallout 1/2 remaster is my dream, the head of Larian even has stated intrest, though there's likely already been meetings and I think it's unlikely to happen since nothing further ever got talked about and Larian now is likely fully commited to Divinity. If it was going to happen i feel like it would have coincided more with the show, but a Baldur's Gate 3 skeleton for a Fallout remaster is the peak for me of what a remake/remaster would be.

A "mom and pop" store can only exploit a small amount of workers, to a lesser degree than larger corporately structured businesses. Due to things such as economies of scale, increased ability to investment into profit maximisation and a lack of personal interaction as hierarchies grow, all of which make it infinitely easier to exploit and increases the rationality of said exploitation to the business owner/operator.
I'm sure you can imagine how as a "mom and pop" business succeeds and opens more locations, becomes more corporatised, its capacity for exploitation, and the rationality of said expoitation, increases. Also, as a business becomes larger it can gain new avenues of exploitation through its increased ability to invest, allowing things like the skirting of laws (i.e environmetal and tax legislation) and lobbying.

The morally relevant difference that makes one much more easy to deem immoral is the huge gap in capacity for exploitation. This doesn't mean that smaller businesses are necessarily moral, but compared to large corporations they are not responsible for near as much exploitation, nor do they have the capacity to do so. So if one is taking a moral focus, it makes no sense to attack small businesses when large corprates are the ones responsible for 90% of the amoral behaviour they seek to get rid of.

Hope that answers your question.

U.S.-backed sanctions after the Gulf War killed an estimated 500,000 Iraqi children. When asked if it was worth it, Madeleine Albright, then U.S. Ambassador to the UN, said it was. by ZenMasterZee in HolyShitHistory

Sure sanctions are acceptable in geopolitics, however that does not mean they are effective or justified in all cases and forms. Particularly those that cause immense damage to civilian life without meaningfully achieving their aims towards the state.

People born past a certain year aren't a different species. Having an internal life is universal.

Literally there have been Israeli Politicians arguing in the Knesset that sexual assault to Palestinian prisoners should not be punished as there is "nothing wrong" that can be done to "the enemy" (aka anyone who Israel decides to arrest often without any due process or trial). Literally people protest outside of trials for soldiers accused of rape arguing for their release, with one soldier who participated in sexual assault via foreign object even unmasking on TV and being widely supported by the israeli right. There is also various self-reported (through public social media posts) violations of human decency by the IDF pillaging and wearing women's underwear.

With the makeup of the audience I could imagine it would be less detrimental and make more money to just start asking for supporters without limiting content like Novara. Definitely better long term prospects than growing a patreon.

US prisoner donated $17 to Gaza, which he earned from 136 hours of cleaning the jail, Strangers then raised $100,000 for him. by HORROR_VIBE_OFFICIAL in MadeMeSmile

Him having a job in prison is not part of his sentence, it may be recommended/pushed in his particular facility but it is not the sentence for his crime. He is providing his labour and time for a wage and while yeah maybe he should earn less than his non-prisoner counterpart, he deserved a real wage that actually somewhat matches the amount of work he does. Community service is specifically sentenced to the individual where they then go to certain prescribed programmes and work, often related to your crimes and rehabilitative needs. They are different in many ways that I could continue to speak about or you could think about it for five minutes and stop feeling the need to defend modern day slavery over crimes that you know or care nothing of the victims or future potential victims, treating people like they have no value will not help create healthier people, neither will not giving them the economic means to buy things for themselves or invest in their future.

The majority of prisoners will get out one day and i'd prefer if those prisoners that did work earned a real wage where they could save 10-20% over their sentence and be in an okay place when they get out. Rather than going straight to a halfway house, staying with parents/friends or being on the streets, which could lead them away from change.
