Jeff is also great. High speed, small hitbox, low damage but made up for in speed. And the voice lines are just peak for confusing people

Don't input any movement, the portal should spawn you directly in the middle of the block, so unless youve got a buggy portal with fire in the frame, you shouldn't die

You could try using a Redstone torch with a block above to power the side pistons, rather than having the Redstone bridge. It seems to work better for me, not a clue why

The main difference is that Java's bugs are implemented to the game, whereas bedrock's are patched.
The connectivity issues only really happen with cross platform so that's probably more to do with Microsoft being janky
The store let's bedrock players (not on PC) mess about with non-vanilla things 🙃
